@Treehugger - yes, the movie is based on a rescue in 1952 by CG36500 (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SS_Pendleton#Loss). The kit is not of that actual boat, but the same type (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lifeboat_(rescue)#36'_(foot)).
@Thomas - oh yes, it worked very well debonding the CA, I used 3/4 of a bottle to get rid if it all.

The waves are made from 2-3 layers of tissue paper and watered down PVA.
The base itself is XPS with balsa framing.

Thomas EspeUploaded some images of the finished project. Quite happy with. The pictures are not that great though, I'm no photographer, but they give an impression of what the end result is.
