The BH-21 (designated as B.21 by the Czechoslovak air force) was the first commercial success of the fledgling Avia factory. The BH-21 was a culmination of several biplane designs that Avia offered to the Czechoslovak Ministry of National Defense (MNO), following a parallel failed attempt to produce a monoplane design. A highly maneuverable aeroplane, the BH-21 launched the golden age of Czechoslovak aerobatics competition. Manufacturing license was sold to Belgium, cementing Avia's leading role as a premier fighter supplier to MNO. Several BH-21s were equipped with skis for service during winter months: my build represents the initial ski-equipped prototype.
