Thats the reason why I was waiting a few months until I get the one with the Dragon Zimmerit on it.

Thank you Holger.
There are a lot of parts left (as usual with the Dragon kits) and the assembly and instructions are ... crap! but I think i'm gonna make it ...

This raises a good question Albi. Just what color is chipped zimmerit? Right off, I'm thinking some sort of chalky white?? Going to have to look at some reference photos and see what some of the other people have done for this.
I'm getting ready to paint the wheels of a Tiger 1 that has a tri-color scheme and am wondering if I should paint all of the wheels dark yellow or some sort of alternating red/green/yellow.....
I read somewhere that the wheels one color. This was because a camo pattern on the wheels would be too attention getting (not a good thing in combat) as the vehicle was moving. Interested to see how you handle this.
By the way, my contact/buddy emailed me and has indicated that his Tiger 11 #6303 is available!!!!! So I may soon have this kit!
Thanks for the posts Albi, nice clean build you've got going on!

@ James :
Thank you.
Zimmerit was a muxture of sawdust and bonding. I guess chalky white would match. No camo on the wheels seems logical, but when I look to pictures the wheels were heavy mudded or dusty as hell ....--> the solution: weathering! 😉
I believe in the beginning of the war that german vehicles are properly checked and maintained. From the beginning of '44 it changed and so the camo pattern ...

@James: Albi is right with the zimmerit. If the zimmerit is totally gone it could also be that the red primer shines through.
As far as the wheels are concerned there are various versions. Have a look at photos of the originals. Some have base colour (dark-yellow), some have wheels in single camouflage (e.g. some in dark-yellow, some in dark-brown, some in green) and last variation is camouflage colours on each wheel.
The camouflage on the wheels doesn't catch the attention, when the vehicle is in movement. It is the movement of the whole vehicle itself, that is eye-catching.
So don't worry, be happy. The choice is your's!
