June 11, 2023These dang ejector pin marks will be a bear to remove.2
June 11, 2023This will be a little narrower so that it will fit nicely on a counter top. Should be 23” x 48” when done. Planning to build a case as well.3

July 5, 2023lots of detail painting for next weekend 8-| These are crazy nice models in themselves. Wait till i show the picture of the fire hose and nozzle. I have them separate and won’t add to the tug till I paint them. I still can’t believe i was able to assemble them!20

January 16, 2024What ended up taking all week was figuring out how to make the oval boat “fenders”.
After a couple failed ideas i landed on some beads that i could modify.43
January 16, 2024Then I used plastic wood putty to fill the gap. The toothpick has a purpose btw, these fenders have a rod thru them that the ropes loop thru so i’m planning to cut off the toothpick to make the rod end.44
January 16, 2024Then sand with a dremel 1st, 400 grit sanding stick, then 800 grit finish. The 2 lines ended up looking like they belonged there under primer compared to the mold lines on the real thing.45

January 28, 2024Had a re-do here. This sponson didn’t sit flush with the deck. Off by 3mm at the outer edge. It just had to be fixed so i cut it loose and redid it with black CA.73

January 30, 2024And after a bunch of work to line things up i cut the cord and drilled holes in the hangar bay deck and then the hull AND THEN marked the base for the linear motor holes78

January 30, 2024Then let’s finish this out with another crazy add … i’ve started a foc’sle because the whole bow will be open and it was just going to be too barren ? just in-process but i think it’s looking good so far84

January 30, 2024So here’s the 3/16” bar i put under the flight deck. JB Weld to set the mounts for the linear motors. In a genius moment i cut 2 of the mounts too short! And JBWeld sags until it dries after a few hours so i had to make supports to keep everything lined up … oh god wait till you see this jury rigged setup86

January 30, 2024let’s start with one of those “i just can’t stop myself” moments. We should have a hi-lift for the docks! There’s a couple in the pics i have so i went ahead and scratched a few up ? the trumpeter set i have for deck equipment had a few cabs and i added some plastrut to them!88

Let’s see if I can bring this idea to fruition…My plan is to use a couple linear actuators to lift the flight deck so the hangar bay can be seen clearly!
