I thought it was the air operations in Syria and Iraq against IS. Operation Inherent Resolve.
Great finish on the kit too 🙂

Um wow.... WOW! That is simply fantastic. The weathering is among the most convincing I have seen in any scale, in particular the centerline fuel tank. Amazing! You even got the composite texture... nice!
A real Masterpiece Daniel!

Munky, Nathan, Roland and Michael, thank you for your kind words mates, I am very happy you like the result! Had a blast myself, its a big surface to throw some weathering on and just try some ideas and new things.
Nathan is absolutely correct, this machine is from end of cruise 2017, pretty worn down, the pickle button surely is as well😉

Epic build & finish Daniel 👍 - could it be you really like building Hornets?😉 It's basically a textbook for advanced techniques, but here is my top 5 details pick...
- the fuel tank (The Lions should really clean it or drop it... 🙂)
- the elevators with the gradient grime in the "walking" area (entire surface job is great, this is just my "favorite spot"😢
- pic 54 with the exposure looks as a real picture from the deck
- the deck itself, scratch-built
- LGTR on MER combo😉
could go on & on, great stuff mate!

Spanjaard, Bob, Rui, Jos and Slavo, really appreciate your comments my friends, thank you!
yeees, now you noticed it, I'll admit I like the hornets 🙂 Dont know why, but somehow the canted fins sitting between wings&elevators sold me on it as a kid already - first love story. i know Im weird^^
Speaking of the elevators, I also think they came out best, being treated as a single piece I could concentrate on. Trying to get the effect on the whole big thing was much harder - one aspect I will try to improve on in the next build and really try to handle it in segments and focus on smaller areas, possibly achieving more "gradients" in the whole picture.
But the next one here will be an F-14, my second childhood love, thanks to a certain cheesy movie😉

Very nicely done indeed...amazing work! I think that Superbug needs a carwash though. 🙂

@Holger:😎 Thx mate!
@Neal: Took some extra steps to get the thermal coating structure right and the rest was just quick light gull grey w/ sandbeige, oils and drybrush 🙂 Thanks for noticing! 👍
@Ricardo: Thanks for commenting! always a pleasure to share the hobby with you guys 🙂

Impressive! I have the same single-seater in my stash. Did you use the AIM-9X from the kit? I bought Eduard's Brassin AIM-9X kit, looks like a great improvement over the kit one.

Thx! The aim 9x in the box are a joke ... sadly the eduard replacement was not yet released when I built this so I butchered the kit ones into a new shape
(somewhere at the start of the WIP album)

just wow
this is the most beautiful super hornet Rhino that I have seen in a scale model?
I finish mine at 1/48 and it will be difficult for me to do as well as you.
Well done?

Amazing work man!! 54 looks so real!! One question I hope you don't mind me asking; where did you score those ground figures in that scale?

thank you NTT and bughunter!
The deck crew is actually recruited from different kits, green shirt from the Tamiya Tomcat, plane captain is a frankenstein, I made a cast from the green shirt and reassembled him, red shirt is from the Academy Hornet and the white shirt is a former air force guy from the Academy 32002 set. He got a helmet added onto his beanie.
But if you are looking for really amazing figures, look no further than here (worth every cent):
