Very cool. Have you thought about adding the missiles under the wings?

Hi Bill, if you look the third photo, under the left wing you could see the terrible "fritz bomb", just the bomn that sunk our warship "ROMA"

Hi Dave, this is the version of the Do17 with increased wings, used only by KG100, created for transporting experimental bombes HS-293 and SD-1400

Fine Do-217. 👍 Yes, it happens on 09.09.1943 - Planes (Do 217 K1 and K2) belonged to the III./K.G. 100 "Wiking".
The first hit on the back of the ROMA was done by Uffz. Klapproth from the crew of Major Jope and some seconds later the second hit by Uffz. Eugen Degan, crew of Ofw. Steinborn in the middle of the ship. The used weapons are "Fritz-X Lenkbombe".
The ROMA sunk in 43 Minutes nearly with the whole crew.

Mike, thank you so much for these information, it is one of the darkest and saddest pages of the Italian history. I am happy that after 70 years, the wreckage has finally been found off the coast of Asinara isle.Until now, I knew only that the group of bombers was at the command of Major Jope. I have a big interest for the italian history of the WW2 (and for the history of WW2 in general), and if I had to "cross" italian and german history, could I bother you? ;D
