First stage of paintjob and decals finished. With the help of some mates we most likely identified the historical correct marking which is great. Decals were printed by a friend and of perfect quality 🙂

I had to reposition the decals, since the first attempt was badly wrong. Also added oxigin device as a small detail in the front part.

Excellent! 👍 👍 Great concept and wonderful execution. I like the way you "wrinkled" the wings and stabilizers to give the effect of sheet metal. Congratulations.

Arne Greve
Nice work, coporado. Whats the story behind this scene?
11 October 2019, 06:11
coporado
Thanks Arne! The 109 crashed close to my parents home and close to the nearby airfield at my hometown in 1942. This was the main inspiration for the dio. Second was to take the challenge of recreating that damages on the aircraft.

Thank you for this information. 🙂

Unfortunately there are no confirmed information concerning the pilot. But looking at the scene he presumably survived the crash (opened canopy and ambulance car nearby). Taking all those trees into account he was a lucky one to hit the gap between the bigger trees.

Is the original photo from one of your ancestors?
11 October 2019, 10:23
coporado
That might have been the dot in the story behind the dio, Arne. Unfortunately not, pic comes from a huge collection of pictures and researched military history of Magdeburg (my hometown). Some very nice and engaged guys are always busy on that in this community --> f15919.nexusboard.de/forum.php
There are also general pictures and information available (mostly researched on historical pictures or papers) such as vehicle and aircraft markings or uniform references for example.
If you might be interested, registration is required to see pictures.
cheers Sascha
