Thanks for the tip Thomas, I recently discovered Tamiya paints. The hobby shop seller recommended "Aqueous Hobby Color Thinner" and using that works well also.

Cristian, I don't know about the thinner you mention, but the leveling thinner contains a retarder agent that slows down the curing (drying) process, which gives the paint some time to become "leveled", so that tiny imperfections caused by less than perfect application are smoothened out. I have even found that if you, aíne or two minutes after painting, generously overspray the surfaces with pure leveling thinner from the airbrush, the surfaces will melt slightly into a perfectly smooth and flat paint coat, without any orange peel effect whatsoever. Just remember not to touch the paint for at least a day or two, or you will end up with permanently embedded fingerprints.

The tamiya 1:100 is also pretty bad. I finished mine but I think redoing the nose 6 times killed my mojo for several months.
