Primed with Mr Surfacer 1500 Black...

Turret textures...
A lot of nooks and crannies to get into so rather than my usual post shading of hitting regions locally, I opted to give it a solid base coat...
Base coat of Tamiya XF67 NATO Green...
Turret textures showing though...
Hull Textures looking good under a coat of colour...
Road wheels received the same base colour...
Applying what I learnt from the Whippet build I'm going much brighter... Dialing the colours up from the start with what would be considered as it's mid tone...
Post shading the turret... Thus was a concoction of tamiya paints... XF61 NATO green... XF 21 Sky... XF4 Yellow green... XF49 Khaki in roughly a 4:4:2:1 Ratio respectively...

Hull post shaded... First layer of post shading almost done...!
Road wheels got the same post shading treatment...
Gradient highlighting.... The 4BO mix was lightened with XF55 Deck Tan...
Previous highlight was mixed with further XF55 Deck Tan...
Gradient Highlights done..!! Went to the point were the paint was more XF55 Deck Tan than 4BO...
Oil filters commenced...
Love how simple filters are and can restore saturation to colours... Another opportunity to create visual interest..
To help unify the starkness of the gradient highlights, olive green, ochre, light blue grey and faded green oils were mixed into a filter...
Selective panels were given different coloured filters to increase the demarcation between adjacent panels...
Oil filters complete... I had to dust a little mid tone over as I don't have a decent yellow in amongst my oil paint collection... I must remedy this...
Track and Wheel assembly masked using Panzer Putty... This was by far the easiest and quickest way to paint the base colour XF63 to the tracks and rubber elements...
Track and wheel assembly base colour done... From here on in I'm using a dollop of panzer putty when painting track assemblies...
Oil pin wash of ABT502 sepia commenced...
Grimey..!
Pin wash to the hull done...
Localised satin varnish then Decals went on.
Painted and chipped insignia band... 2 coats of Chipping fluid then XF1 White was sprayed... Using a thin piece of tamiya tape I very roughly outlined the band just for overspread reasons and to give me a line to work with...
Removed the rough mask and gently rubbed away at the edges with water and a small brush...
Before Paint on Friday night...
After a weekends effort...Couldn't help myself... Had to put it together to see how she looks...
Oil rendering begins... ABT502 oils used - Olive green, burnt umber, Sand yellow, and white were used to create additional tonal variations...
Vajello paints used for highlighting the details... I think I used a mix of Deck Tan, RLM02 and Green sky... For the smallest details I added a Yellow Green to the mix to brighten things more
Little more highlighting got done tonight... Mostly the running gear...
Playing with oils... Haven't got much experience with these... But I now know why some modellers rave on about them...
Additional contrast... Shadows... Exposed Edges... Deep crevices... Dirt passes... All with oils...
Oils are very cool..
Localised Sponge chipping with Vajello German Camo Black Brown to specific areas of high wear and tear... Then light rust washes blended over to subdue...
Streaking with Raw Umber and Buff... And pretty well whatever colour that was on the pallete... lo
Highlighting the welds with AK 3rd Gen Silver... Triple 0 brush with a little silver basically wafted over the weld seams... Unload your brush well...
Ammo Light Rust wash Enamel rust was added over major chipped regions.... I need to blend it better next time...

Getting close to the finish line...
Reinforced the rust to the grill at the rear with Lifecolour Rust and Dust set colours...
Sifted dirt in and around things...Held in place with VMS Ballast freeze...
First lot of Weathering to the tracks...
Texture to the lower hull... Delivery came today so getting to try out a new product for this... So far it's not too bad and blends better than the colour variant... AK's Texture Earth Neutral...
Enamel weathering to the hull sides... Using Mig Heavy Mud Range...
Enough for the night... More weathering to come... Not terribly convince of the earth colours I chose... Might need a recoat...
Opted to do a something a little different from finishing off the T34... Rusted Plate... Making me think about the next project...
Second round of weathering... Decided to drive the T34 through the mud...
AK Fresh Mud mixed with Russian Earth Pigment speckled over...
Muddy muddy...
Oil and grease stains with ABT502 Grease... All that's left is exhaust and gun stains, polished edges and the antenna..
And she's done... Not all that happy with the weathering but it'll do... Time for the next project.

Eddy MarshallNot too sure which 4BO it is Jen..! Lol... I don't get too hung up of colour accuracy... I'm more of a stylised modeller and have learnt to dial things up dramatically... I can then easily control things with filters to hit the sweet spot... But in saying this I do use colour swatches as a starting point... But it's not too far off what you sent in your link...

Eddy MarshallCheers Cortex... It's almost there mate... No problems sharing mate... It's just as much for myself so I can refer back to it... The kit isn't too bad... There's a few issues with it but may have been just my kit... Don't pay too much for it tho like I did... Lol Maybe the new border models kit would prove to be the better choice depending on the price...

Eddy MarshallHey Cortex... The kit is pretty good... I can get it here in Australia for 54AUD... At that price point it's well worth it... But I was impulsive and bought it from my local hobby shop with an overinflated price.. I understand Border Models are releasing their T34/85 but with 5 resin figures, metal barrel and so forth... It may prove to be the better offering...
Have a look at the build portion of this and see what you think... Hope it helps...
