Question. Should I and how often should I sand while painting/priming pieces. Should I sand in between layers using wet or dry and grit #... Or am I overthinking it and I only need to sand down after the clear coat's been on. I've never really been about to get a good showroom shine on my vehicles and I have a few special projects coming up that I want to do well on. I've gotten responses from a few people 😄 and now I ask the masses.

What Peter Hardy said is a looooooot of work - for me!

I'm only sanding the Plastik with a "abrasive Fleece" from the painter for 1:1 cars.
before i take the first layer of primer i remove all moldinglines and so stuff with sandpaper (from 240 / 400 / 800), than wet, grid 400 and at last 1000.
After the primer i take wet sanding paper - a really often used 1000 grid that feels like 3000. If there are some spots with dirt under the primer, i take 400 wet sanding paper only for These spots. then i use wet sanding paper with 1000 grid before the paint Comes up.

After the first layer of paint, i use the same wetsanding paper (3000) before painting clearcoat.

after clearcoat the same Procedere (wetsanding with 3000), final clear coat.

In my opinion, it is important, to warm the paint up to get a shiny result.
I never use any polishstuff for the finish.
Just my 2 Cents 😉
