I'd like to make a model car for my best buddy, Andy, but I'm not knowledgeable about cars other than what the pedals do and where to put gas (I assume the hamsters under the "front trunk" drink it). My knowledge of car model kits is about the same...
I asked, and his all-time favorite car is the 1979 VW Beetle Karmann-Ghia convertible. I dug through the database a bit and found a Revell VW Beetle Cabriolet 1970 that *looks* similar but I don't even know where to go to find the differences in the cars so I could attempt a conversion.
So, Car Guys (and Gals), are there any research sites you could recommend to me about these cars or cars in general? Any help in general on a conversion of this type?

Paul JulianoHans, I'd tried that, but that seems to be some other VW model of the same name, but not a Beetle. The shape's all wrong for a Bug. Here's a picture of a well-preserved '79 model of the Beetle variety...

That's why I think the kit below may be a good starting point. What do you think?
