Update:

with the first A400M for Belgium now in the paintshop, i have started looking into serials & roundel decal designing to supplement the kit's stencil decals.

twitter.com/AirbusDe../1253692736764612609

from what i can see, the font for the titles and serials would be an "RAF Type 1 font" (RAF_PW_ATH, download here bobsyouruncle.net/font-types.htm )

work is expected to begin as soon as my workbench is clear, should be soon. for the moment, im using the Luxembourg A400 as a reference, as this one will be operated in cooperation with the BAF.

update:

after seeing the new video from airbus, showing the completed Belgian A400M, ive noticed my design for the "Belgian Air Force" titles on the forward fuselage were too big. so i had to shrink them by another 5mm, making them about 32mm long in 144 scale, and those seem to fit alright. serials for the tail seem to be okay to me.

for paint, if i can believe the info from official documents, all A400M's are painted in FS 36173 (which converts to Humbrol 156).

Update:

due to shortage of time, the project has been put on hold, but there is some progress prior to the start of the build. last week, the first Belgian A400M arrived just in time for Christmas. with this, new images have appeared of the aircraft. first off, i noticed the 4 of the 6 roundels i sourced from a DACO Spitfire sheet, are too large and are more for a 1/72 version. to replace these, i sourced 4 smaller ones from leftover 1/72 F-16 decals. these appear to be more fitting.

a friend of mine asked me to make a 1/72 version of the Belgian decals, so i decided to print out an extra set for the future 1/72 version aswell. i still need to redesign some of the decals, but scaling up should not be a problem.
