FCM 2C "Alsace"
French Super Heavy Tank

This is a replica of the FCM 2C super heavy tank "Alsace" that was built during the Inter-War Period as a "char de rupture" (breacher tank). Initially, FCM 2C tanks were expected to be built in the hundreds and to serve in the First World War. But as the Great War ended, only ten of those behemoths were built and they served mostly as propaganda tools to scare off potential ennemies. In truth, the FCM 2C tank was a logistical nightmare and required heavy maintenance. Its sheer mass made it difficult to keep in working order and is was forbidden from crossing any bridge as it would crumble under its weight. In an ironic turn, although it was the most imposing operational tank in the world at the time, it never saw any action as all ten FCM 2C tanks were destroyed while they were being transported away from the frontline, except for one that was brought to Germany as a war trophy.
