Trumpeter HMS Hood
I cut out all the raised deck detailing. The idea is to reinstate them again after I installed the wooden deck
The wooden deck and the empty spaces left behind. The rotary tool is from DSPIAE and the rotary blade is from Voyager models
Dry fitting the MK1 wooden deck. The fit is pretty good. All the raised details are now levelled because of the thickness of the wooden deck.
Comparison between the plastic vs the MK1 wooden deck
The midship lower deck must be painted before installing the wooden deck.
Dry fitting the wooden deck onto the midship lower deck. The fit is 99% perfect. Snugs nicely.
Once the midship upper deck is glued. Only 10% of the lower deck floor or interior can be seen.
The plastic does not have many surface details.
The two funnels and parts of the bridge. The parts were riddled with seam lines and plastic leftovers from the molding process. Lots of cleaning up to do.
15' gun turrets and twin 4 in AA guns. There was a great deal of cleaning up to do before assemply.
The barrels and turret do not include any canvas covering. I will make my own with epoxy putty
Shaft, strut, and stern tube bearing Installation. Surface quality is poor so plenty of sanding an cleaning up.
The midsection lower deck. I must complete this section first before closing the top deck. Overall paint is Mr. COLOR 305 FS36118 Gunship Grey.

The upper and lower hull did not align very well. Lots of sanding and scraping
Some of the parts need to have the PEs installed in advance. Air vents under the funnels.
I had no problem separating the PE parts from the fret. Just a little nudge using a used blade will do. I use a file to clean the parts from any protuding bits.
Laying down the MK1 wooden deck. It is self adhesive but I added extra CA glue under it. The fit is 98% good, almost perfect.
The wooden decks have a thin layer of glue underneath it. The glue is protected by a plastic film that you have to peel away. It was tacky but i found that it didnt stay flat for long. You need to add extra glue under it.
The life raft fitted with PE parts. The orignal plastic were drilled out and scraped.
8 barrels QF-2 pounders with their PE bits. Only 3 units will be installed.
Assortments of other weapons including QF-4 inch guns, 12.7mm quad mounts
Small bits and bobs. The model has many of these things.... making work becoming rather repetitive.
I used Mr. COLOR No.305 FS36118 Gunship Grey for all components.
I used mini cable clamps to help hold and paint the small items. These clamps are super cheap. I bought 30 pieces for appox US$4

Working on the PE parts small steps at a time. GMM provided two sets of the HOOD lettering. The extra is for spare backup. Also a PE template to help align the letters. I lost one of the D (Oops) and used the spare. A lifesaver!
The grills for the funnels. They were fiddly and extremely hard to work with. I wasted days figuring out how??? The grills came in one-piece. I finally cut mine into three pieces. This gave me more control and that really helped. Since then, progress was fast.
In the foreground are supports for the whalers, cutters, and motor-boats. Background are inclined ladders. GMM provides extra spares for all parts

Work on the inclined ladders. These ladders are placed on the hull's sides when the ship is anchored. They will be added at the very end of the build
The GMM instruction sheet does not cover PE placements for smaller areas. I had to find online references for the PE railing on the forward 12.7 quad mount platforms.

The initial process was to cut the grills into three segments. Then I glued each part in succession after one part is secured.

Danumurthi MahendraHi @Paul - The GMM is great for a depicting her 1941 fit. The set has almost everything. The PE guardrails, ladders, stairs, doors, etc covers all the major parts. GMM provides every part with extra pairs. This is so convenient as I lost a few to the carpet monster. The instruction sheet is extensive and very informative. They must have put a lot of effort into it. Best using a gel type CA glue to fix these.
