Harley Quinn themed '57 T-Bird

Album image #1
Marking where to cut and make holes for bullet holes.

Album image #2
The engine parts in this kit were all chrome. I was surprised that the chrome in this kit looks really good.

Album image #3
This kit also had a lot of extra parts. Almost all the optional/extra parts were not on the induction sheet. Most were common sense on what it was but a couple were not and I have no clue what it could be.

Album image #4
I De-chromed all the engine parts since I wanted to paint it. I used an oven degreaser/cleaner to strip the chrome off

Wired the engine. Wanted to make it look cool and have the wires seen well. I did not go for realism on this build. Just whatever looked cool. The Distributor I used is an aftermarket part. the one that came in the kit was too small to add wires to.

I lost the kits original fan and used a fan form a spare kit I had laying around.

This was my first time putting in bullet holes. I made some bigger than I wanted to but overall, I'm good with the results. I painted Tamiya Pure Red lacquer over a light grey primer. Next is the paint the gloss black.

The trunk is where im adding the bomb poking out a little bit.

The masking job worked out well and the car body looks great so far. Next is masking some diamonds and stars on the body.

Album image #38
I did the Star and Diamonds freehand on a masking sheet. I love how it looks so far

Car Body is done. I painted the gloss, then waxed and buffed it. After I painted the bullet holes and dry-brushed some burnt umber color around the shell wells for some dirt.

Ran into a problem when putting the chassis in, the wheels were two wide for the body of the car to sit right. I had to shorten the metal axel and the back of the rims to make it fit.

Album image #51
Fixed it. Even though the back wheels were too wide, the front wheels were the same size and fit without any issues.

Album image #52
Engine is done. Love the way the engine came out. The engie had fitting issues too. I had to put the engine in after I put the chassis and car body together. (directions say to put engine on chassis 1st then to the car body but it would not fit correctly done that way) It's not even glued, just fits in sung.

Still need to paint and add the headlights and tail lights on the bumpers. Plus some touch ups. Then the car will be done but not the project! Still making a display base and scratch building Harley's big mallet. Lastly, I dry brushed some flat clear on the windshield.

Album image #54
For the interior, I dry brushed some green and added some leaves to represent Poison Ivy (Harley's girlfriend in the show) had been there. I also added a Batarang. I made these out of masking tape.

Album image #55
I added this bomb just for fun. I imagine it being shot out during a car chase. or it's sitting back there because Harley Quinn stole it form GCPD.

What did they use to shoot the car? Anti tank shells?
This looks great!

Thank you and yeah I made the bullet hole a bit too big but lore-wise Harley Quinn has taken this car through some serious action! 😆 One thing that has been fun is since it's inspired from a cartoon, I don't feel like I have to restrict myself to be super accurate. Hence the wires, I just put them where it would look cool.
