Unboxing...
Seeing general dry fit... It's pretty good.
OOB Cockpit work...
Washing body (I just do this with baby wipes - it's quicker) and painting ejection seats...
Seats are all OOB.
It's not particularly accurate, but decent enough!
Gluing!
Making good. Encountering the usual raised panel lines issue as I sand...
Manufacturing marks on an older kit.
Armament work..
Decided I was very unhappy with nose cone.
Wet and dry being used...
I also decided I was massively unhappy with forward parts, so chopped out and try and make good. We'll see how well I can try and rescue my work!
Continuing to smooth and shape. They're also getting sharper.
I'm happier! It's no longer historically correct, however when finished, kit will look better. I have this kit again in the stash, so the issues I've uncovered and the learning curve I've been on will hopefully mean I make a better job on the next build!
So the idea is to add some various tonality to the all black finish. I'm not bothered about the current gloss or matt finish as ultimately it'll all be coated in a final varnish finish - likely satin.
Masking up for different blacks - just to give the panels some variable tone...
Grey panelling...
Nozzles and leading edges have had their metallic touches!

So the aged decals aren't the best! But as always with these old kits, my goal is to use everything original 👍 so we persevere...

Have decided to add some grime and wear where the wings swing.

Donald Dickson III did this one with the AMK kit. Been trying to find the F-4 version to do. LOL

Chan LiTomcat isn't a plane that you can easily build and paint. Especially in 48th scale.
I have always been lazy to splice those pics together after a day's work, I should do it too…
Did I use the correct word "splice"?

NeilHi Chan Li, hope you're well thanks for commenting. Yes, hopefully I'll do a decent enough job! I'm using it as a build learning experience to be honest, first Cat I'll have made in 35+ years.
Yeah I just do it to cut down on the size of my albums, as aware my builds are all OOTB so don't wanna bore everyone too much! 😆 Yes, splice will do mate 👍
Yeap love the 80s tunes (before that was considered hip!)

NeilHi Thomas and Slavo, thanks very much for your interest and commenting. 🙂 I am slowly moving forward with this build, currently on some general touch-ups here and there at the mo prior to a gloss coat and the decals. Hope to get some new images on here soon 👍
