Me too. Many of the ones I saw on magz are pretty clean and tidy. until my friends on FB showed me some chipped and weathered pics. wow. I just have to try it out!

have you built any hasegawa eagels? if so, how does academy compete with them?

I have done many Hasegawa kits, but not the F-15. So I cant really say. BUT... if I have give my opinion, in terms of surface details.. this Academy kit is no match for Hasegawa new kits (i.e.: post 2000 kits). but what this kit wins over Hasegawa is the Cartograf decals which is far superior for Hasegawa's kit decals.

I almost feel sorry for the thing 🙂 Obviously the USAF doesn't apply the same rules as during my time in the army .... "if it doesn't move, paint it".

A nice dirty eagle. Greatjob. Too bad that USAF is planning to phase the F-15C out of service in the early '20s.

Hi @Adam G. I just posted the photo that gave me the inspiration for the build. it was based on an F-15E. photo credit goes to Steve Cooke. Aside from this, I took a few ideas from different photos, including a beaten up USAF F-15C and JSDF F-15s.

Thanks Scott and Stephan. @Marciej that is very sad. They seem to have more frame life /operation years a head of them

Another Stunner - like it very much, your F-15 has a lot of character!

I guess there starting to look a bit worn if they are going to start to retire them in the next few years. Just like the last F-4's that few with the USAF. Oh NO that means they will all get turned into QF-15's 🙁

Thanks Harry, Bruno, Bart, and Davide. @Glenn - that is a sad thought (sigh). but that might be, perhaps after all the QF-16s are gone, I guess?

Album info
I spend close to 60 working hours - thanks to the extra filling and sanding! Regardless, I learned a few new tricks along the way. The project focused on exercising weathering techniques on the A/C based on several reference photos obtained in online sources. Happy to share the final pics with you.
