I needed to add a location for this event. I know a bloke who lives in this town, but I didn't want to put his address here. I feared there would be hundreds of ScaleNuts at his front door 😄
So I took a random company's address.

Well, it is certainly an impressive looking train. Pity it's a piece of shit Kenworth. I'm a Volvo fan myself. The Star we are going to build is a mid nineties Constellation by the look of it. I haven't opened the box yet. Bet it's got a Cat under the bonnet. No one gets the colour of that block right. They all seem to paint it canary yellow but it has a darker hue. I am going to do mine in a rich bright blue. There was a Road Commander II getting around in the late eighties on the east coast called "Indescribably Blue". God it was a beautiful colour. Very well known truck. I am going to play around with some spoons!

Blue huh. Now there's an idea!

Care to join our Groupbuild to be? Is something different from a very large warship 😉

Bill Newcomer
Following. I have a KW T900 to build but it is not far enough up in the queue to make the deadline.
14 October 2019, 05:19
Peter Hardy
You'd have to get a right hand dash and reverse the wipers Bill.

Nathan Dempsey
I'm joining in as long as Peter will tell me the correct color of the Western Star's engine. 🙂

Too bad I don't have this truck, have a Revell Kenworth T900 "Australia" maybe gonna buy this Italeri version 🙂
23 October 2019, 17:45
Martin Oostrom
If it is Australian, it is welcome!
23 October 2019, 17:46
Danny Meer
But more fun to buy the same truck, see that sjaak'shobbyshop still has it 🙂
23 October 2019, 17:51
Bozzer
So just to confirm, you guys are all doing the Italeri version of the Australian truck?
13 November 2019, 23:24
Peter Hardy
Bozz, I know of 3 or 4 Italari Western Stars but anything Oz would be VERY welcome. Would love to see an oil exploration truck or anything else right hand drive. How about a rhd tow truck? (Wrecker) we have shiny highway trucks too, just rh drive. Conversion kits can be ordered from Auslowe or there is a VERY expensive K200 Kenworth in Europe. I'll look up the web site and add it in.

Peter Hardy
Bozz, look up an-modeltrucks.com These guys are in Latvia. Like I said very expensive but Oz trucks look awesome and intimidating next to European and American versions of similar models. This K200 will be built by me one day, it's on the list.
14 November 2019, 00:20
Martin Oostrom
Any Aussie truck will do Bozzer. Don't let Peter talk you into buying a $$$$$$ kit 😉
14 November 2019, 07:49
Bozzer
I've just bought a Revell T 900, but I want to keep it a level playing field. I'll get myself an Italeri kit and we will all be the same. I've asked a friend if he would like to join Scalemates and join in too. I await his reply. Quite looking forward to this build with you guys! Something to look forward to, after Christmas.

Have the Revell KW T900 aswell in my stash but wanted to do the Italeri Australian Truck. atm building the Revell Kenworth K100 VIT "Australia" but that isn't a right hand drive...
14 November 2019, 16:52
Bozzer
D, there's still plenty of time to get the kit mate. Jump on board and join the fun! It's better than watching TV buddy😢

Martin Oostrom
Time to buy Italeri stock. They won't know what's happening 😄
14 November 2019, 18:05
Danny Meer

Peter Hardy
Good pick up!
14 November 2019, 22:14
Tom ...
I'm in. No idea what I'm doing but what the heck...
24 November 2019, 22:59
Peter Hardy
Tom, if you have a blank on needed detail give me a yell. I go back to work next week. We run Kenworths not Western Stars but that won't matter!

Peter Hardy
How did you go Bozz? Find the kit yet?
5 January 2020, 01:34
Bozzer
Currently in the USA buddy. I have one sourced, back in the UK. It's only £40, so that's a steal. Looking forward to getting stuck in with you guys. Finally laid my hands on my chrome tanker from AMT, man she's lovely! Also, I found a super cool gold mine of a hobby store in the heart of Philly. Gents, I lost my breath in there! Truck modellers heaven! Sadly, I have no room to bring anything else home, but I'll be back soon, with an empty case and a fat wallet!
5 January 2020, 18:14
Peter Hardy
Get their web address Bozz.
5 January 2020, 21:51
Bozzer
@Peter. I'll try buddy, but I think they're an old school bricks and mortar store?
6 January 2020, 11:52
Peter Hardy
Cheers for that Bozz.
6 January 2020, 21:19
Tom ...
Do the group build events not show up in the calendar? I think that would be useful, no?
12 January 2020, 00:02
Peter Hardy
Marty?
12 January 2020, 02:21
Tom ...
So are there any rules/guidelines to a group build, or points of etiquette one should know about? I'm guessing not but curious if there are some... like no shrimp/barbeque/sheep jokes...
15 January 2020, 18:32
Peter Hardy
All jokes are welcome, especially if Marty is the butt of them. Clever puns are embraced and complained about vociferously. I am already in the poo because I have removed the parts off the sprues and Marty said I was a naughty boy. My mother often said that too. Common theme there somewhere.

It's my first group build too Tom so my rule is to just enjoy the comraderie and the build. Sheep jokes are for Kiwis mate, besides, I was just helping it over the fence and that story won't change!
15 January 2020, 21:15
Nathan Dempsey
This build is coming up fast too. Better dig my kit out of the stash!
15 January 2020, 21:20
Tom ...
Ha Peter, even I figured out we're not meant to start till Feb 15th. I see how it is. We're going to have to keep a close eye on you. Hmmm, I thinks we need to see pics of your chrome pieces to make sure they're not sitting in some bleach bath right now....just say'n...
15 January 2020, 22:48
Nathan Dempsey
A little pre-build cleanup never hurt anyone 🙂
15 January 2020, 23:30
Peter Hardy
Tom, all chrome still in place on the spruces!
16 January 2020, 02:34
Bozzer
@Peter. In respect to that hobby store? Unfortunately they don't have a website. It was as I feared. They just sell to customers. It's a damn shame, because they had some really cool stuff in there. Literally, shelves and shelves of stuff, I've never seen before. All scales, types, everything! First time I've ever seen an Airfix 1/24 F190 in real life. I think it was $98 US? They had all kinds of car and truck kits. If you ever get to Philly, from the river, head up Market St, on the right hand side. It's a couple of doors up from the souvenir store. Take lots of money!
16 January 2020, 04:47
Peter Hardy
Highly unlikely I will ever even know where in the world Philly is or even how to find it on a map. So, I will have to rely on the generosity of my friend Bozzer who will search shelf after shelf for the Fujimi Yamaha FZR '87 Tech 21 or Any Kawasaki H1 500 or H2 750 triples. So rare, so desirable.....
16 January 2020, 07:43
Martin Oostrom
I object to being on the lower end of all jokes!
16 January 2020, 08:31
Danny Meer
Is it this 1 Peter? 🙂

Nah that's not the one Danny. The ad sprukes an '87 but the box correctly identifies it as an '85.
