Clifford Keesler Very impressive.
13. July 2015, 01:34
Christian Bruer Hey Jordan, what is the next ship on the bench?
13. July 2015, 17:22
Jordan I already got myself a Dragon Scharnhorst as well as a Dragon USS Buchanan gleaves-class destroyer waiting to be built. I'm not sure which one I'm going to tackle first, but I'm leaning towards the Buchanan since its a smaller, less time consuming kit.

For the Scharnhorst I have a Flyhawk detail set, I was going to use a laser cut wood deck, but I think I can make my own wood color with paints since Dragon's kit already has the deck scribed into the plastic. I also managed to get a cyber hobby photo etch upgrade for the railings since I was unsure if the Flyhawk set included them.
13. July 2015, 20:43
Ingmar Stöhr Wow. The Dragon Scharnhorst seems to be an excellent kit but it's quite expensive and has soooo many parts. All these details will be a lot of fun as long as you don't get exhausted along the way.
14. July 2015, 05:02
Christian Bruer Well Jordan, Scharnhorst and Buchanan are a good choice. Scharnhorst is a big project with all the PE etc. I currently work on HMS Belfast with Flyhawk PE and a lot of extra parts. This is my first ship larger than destroyer size and it is really time consuming project. I much like the Dragon Buchanan I start one for a couple of years but put it beside because of my Royal Navy affinity. I can highly recommend the exact fit and intelligent layout to make easy to assemble sub divisions.

Would be nice to see more of your ship work in the near future.

Cheers, Christian
14. July 2015, 18:34
Ulf Petersen Way cool, Jordan! 8)
The weathering looks a bit overdone to me but I think this is a question of personal taste.
B.t.w. I love your cat! It has such a nice fur pattern and looks so cuddly! :)
I have read that cats love cardboard boxes because they feel warm and are narrow.
15. July 2015, 05:59
Bart Goesaert nice build, I agree with the above remark about the weathering being a tad heavy, but that's only taste...

The cat in the box isn't new to me... once he sat there while I put my model away in the box after painting, with a towel over the model to cover it from dust... the cat broke of the small parts and ruined the paintjob, but my first thought was: how cute, till I realised my model was underneath the cat...
15. July 2015, 11:09

Christian Meyerhoff Hi Carl! As mentioned before, this will be another Masterpiece from you! Impressing work!
2. June 2014, 17:18
Mathias Carl As I wanted to restart with my Z 24 I had to recognize, that many vital parts of the kits have been lost during the moving from Stralsund back to Westerstede.
Because I´m not able to rebuild these parts from, the Project is cancelled and the remains of Z 24 will be used as spareparts for other projects.
But there´s no pity about it, because I´ve not been realy satisfied with the paintjob and other details.

But don´t be scared:
There are enough other kits in my stash ;)

The last thing to say will be:
Thanks to all, who followed this build.
22. April 2015, 14:52
Christian Bruer Don't worry Mathias, I'm looking forward to your next build! Happy modeling, Christian

Trotzdem danke.

Sven Schönyan Very nice! I´m curious for the first pics!
30. October 2014, 17:14
Christopher Dworjan This one is something I'd like to do one day. It was actually commissioned into the US Navy after the war as a destroyer (rather than simply a war prize). Going to start looking for deals on the components.
30. October 2014, 17:45
Sven Schönyan As I am from Germany I will build my one one day in the late war configuration. I´m thinking of a fitting out for action dio lying at the naval harbor of Kiel.
30. October 2014, 18:11
Christopher Dworjan That sounds like a good project. I'll definitely keep an eye out for that one. If you are doing a late war fit, you should check out some of the different US Navy photo archives. They have some good photos of the ship in the US after the war.
30. October 2014, 18:33
Aghis Barberopoulos I have this kit to build, so I am very interested in this project.

Christian Bruer Nice start and hopefully we (ship modelers) got ya all ;)
21. June 2014, 17:43
Christian Bruer Ah and by the way, don't worry about small scale and small parts. Go on and learn while building in that scale. Most it is a question of patience and experience. Patience is an personal thing but experience is something to learn while doing it. If you have any question for support etc. do not hesitate to ask! Have fun and go on whit that´build!
21. June 2014, 17:46
Christian Bruer Hi Holger, how does this go on? No progress! :(
27. July 2014, 07:27

27. July 2014, 09:00
Holger Kranich Hey mates!
Thanks for your supporting messages! My progress is not very much these days due to heavy warm weather, bbq`s and beach partys! ;) :D
But actually i´m working on it!
Sanding the chimneys, glueing the bridge and thinking about, how to paint what, when and masking little parts and the hull...
But the worst thing is that my girlfriend had to drive home to the mainland... this is distracting my thoughts a lot... Its not easy to concentrate myself on modeling...
27. July 2014, 17:45
Bill Spargo I'm watching this one, have'nt started mine yet. Looks like a nice kit to build.

Holger Kranich Hey Jonns, you shall get what you deserve! Including piccies and a report! :)

And Choppa, i unfortunately have to disappoint you... I dont have any spare vinyl tracks... :(
19. June 2014, 11:22
Choppa Nutta Oh well worth a shot, never bought a tank without them before, this ESCI kit surprised me with the plastic ones.... I hope someone here might have a spare set somewhere :)
19. June 2014, 11:36
Holger Kranich I would ask Frank Krause. He has a large tank stash and loves to give his tanks Friuls! Its a very kind guy, maybe he can help...

19. June 2014, 11:43
Choppa Nutta Cool good idea :) he is on my mates list too :)
btw what's a Fruil ? fruity bits for tanks ?
or did you mean frills ? :D
19. June 2014, 11:46
Frank Krause Hi Choppa Nutta,

Friuls are mostly metal tracks for tanks:
T-54/55/62 (Friulmodel ATL-01, 1:35)

Sorry to say, I also don't have vinyl spare tracks of a T-55. The Lindberg ones are surely to old and to stiff, if you need them in running conditions. The Tamiya ones might be to soft, and I would like to keep them for the time being, since I haven't got any modern Friuls to replace the vinyl tracks.

1:35 T-54/55/62 (Friulmodel ATL-01)

19. June 2014, 11:56
Choppa Nutta Ah so fair enough, I've just PM'd you about anything vaguely close will do and I see you have answered me before I sent it, neat trick ;)

Well it was always a bit of a long shot no worries Frank but if you do some more fruils and you end up with some spare tracks do let me know :D

I guess my T-55 will have to go on hold for the time being, good job I've got lots of other kits to be getting on with :D
19. June 2014, 12:09
Frank Krause Hi Choppa Nutta,

:) no worries. You could have the Lindberg tracks, but I think, they won't be any good for the purpose you need them.

When I got some Friul tracks for the Tamiya one, you could get the vinyls, but I can't give any time-frame, when this will be.
19. June 2014, 12:13
Choppa Nutta Sweet, like I said I've got enough to keep me busy for a while yet so time frame aint critical :)

Christian Bruer Thanx mates for following and kind comments!
@Gabor, actually I try different ways to represent a seascape of my ideas. You can use Styrofoam (thermal insulation material 30 - 40mm thick) to make a moved seascape. The waves are shaped by a cutter knife and sanded with a rotating contact brush using a thrilling machine. You should know how it should look when finished, life like photos of ships in a sea state you?d like to present are very helpful. If the seascape is in a good shape I cut out the lines for the lower hull and fit the boat to the board. Don?t worry of gaps, they shouldn?t be to large but you can fill them later when seascape and boat are finished so far. Next I add wall paint in a stippling motion on top of the surface to represent the small waves and choppy sea. Add wall paint in some layers, but wait until each layer is still dry to avoid any cracks on the surface. When all this looks good you can start painting the base. I use acrylics in different shades of grey, green and blue. Now you can add waves etc. using tissue paper and cotton wool. When this is finished some thick layers of high gloss varnish will give the final touch. Take a look to my Album Ship Model Displays:

If you have any further questions or propositions please ask or give a feedback ? Thanx and happy modeling, Christian

Gabor Szabo Thank You! Thank You! :) Thats really helps! I like to try make an open sea diorama but as an aeroplane modeler is a "terra incognita" foe me. :)
3. February 2014, 20:04
Christian Bruer You're welcome Gabor! Don't worry everything new or uncommon is a terra incognita ;) Cheers, Christian

Dirk Heyer Hi Marko,
you are right, it`s an impressive szenery!
I like the rough and very realistic waves!
Good weathered ships are sadly seldom, and Remy`s model is like a fresh breeze in the sea of grey model ships!
Truly impressive!

Mathias Carl Thank you.
It was really fun to build.
Even with modifications necessary to build it in its 1945 appearance.

Aghis Barberopoulos Nice, clean build Mathias. The Z25 is a beautiful craft. I can't wait to build my Z-39. I like the stone base (looks like graphite quarz).
15. November 2011, 16:25
Holger Kranich Wow, what a PE-Battle... Love the 2cm FlaK!
15. November 2011, 16:45
Mathias Carl Thank you. It was very nice to build. Though I´ve had some motivation-problems in the beginnig.
@Aghis Barberopoulos: You´re right with the base. I think it looks much better than wood and makes the model look a bit more dynamic.
@Holger Kranich: THe PE-Battle wasn´t to bad. But from this model on, I definitly like Teelichalu ;)
