Here we go, the first project in 2024 will be a Würger! A colourful one too.

Album image #2
Prepping cockpit to paint. I used gray MRP primer and then shaded a bit with a black one. Over that, three thinned layers of RLM66 also from MRP.

Album image #3
Two coats of MRP gloss, then black wash (I used AK knockoff of Tamiya panel liner), then two good coats of MRP Semi Matt.
Over that some chipping with AK aluminium pencil, then more Semi Matt.
IP as is from Eduard LooK.

Quite happy for one day's work.

Somehow, some cement leaked on to my finger. Should really be more careful, this is happening to me a bit too often.

Album image #12
Out comes the surface fixing kit!

Album image #13
And re-riveting, sanding, wiping, repeating 3x. Will address this mess again after filler-primer 👍 🙂

Album image #14
After closure, all seamlines are properly filled with black CA

Album image #15
Sanding done, priming with MRP grey primer and then preshading with transparent brown and white mottling

Album image #16
Uschi template was used, the plastic ones are rubbish for cleaning. The metal one - I dip a sponge in nitro solvent and wipe away in one go 🙂

Album image #17
smol pts

Album image #18
RLM75 highlighted with white done, AK putty was used for shapes

Album image #19
Highlighted RLM74 was next. It seems rather bright, but with wash and oils I expect it to go to a proper shade...

Album image #20
Horizontal border softened with airbrush and mottling done with RLM75. A little bit of mottling also with RLM74 towards the rear...

Album image #21
On to painting smaller sections...

Album image #22
Omask wheel masks. Worth the 3 EUR or a ripoff? Since they are reusable and I have 6 more Würgers in stash, I say I like the purchase 👍.

Album image #23
Masking

Album image #24
Dark grey (rubber black) was used to lighten up the exhaust area

Album image #25
Done, I like.

Album image #26
By now the vertical rudder and bottom cowling is already in RLM Yellow and last detail are flaps trimmers.

Album image #27
First a thin layer of white

Album image #28
Then a thin layer of RLM23 red... on to glossing before wash!

Album image #29
Had some free time today so I washed the model. With so many rivets, pinwashing is a suicide. Sludge washing uber alles.

Album image #30
...and then cleaned up

Album image #31
only in pictures did I notice some poorly cleaned spots 🙂 Will correct tomorrow.

Album image #32
One Würger complete!

And the propeller assy

Album image #39
Deem this one complete, photos a bit on the dark side, still finding a decent and non-pro photo light...

That's a beautiful cockpit! I feel your pain of the glue leak.

All that in one day! Very nice work. The glue fingerprint is classic; you did a good job cleaning it up.

Thank you Jennifer 👍
One day was only for the cockpit. The rest took more + life. I'm a slow builder 🙂

Sergej, this looks better every time I see it. The subtle but effective weathering is very nice. For the slightly muddy areas where people would walk, is that oil, pastels or some other method?

Thank you for your warm replies, mates 👍
John, this is just a few spots of oil (can't remember if sludge or sepia) and then dry-brush diffused.

The plane is still missing some chipping, but THAT is a thing that can quickly be overdone, so waiting for mojo 😉

Very nice work Sergej! Did you do any riveting or does the kit give you all these lovely details?

Neuling
This model looks excellent even without chipping.

Thank you Thomas and Neuling 👍. Riveting is as is, beautiful and quite shallow. So the trick is to not flood all those beautiful details with rough primers or heavy paint coats. I thin all my lacquers way beyond recommended ratios. I'd say 5:1 in favour of thinner.

I think you didn´t get my question - did you add the rivets or are they already included in the plastic parts?
21 March, 09:32
Sergej I
Possible, Thomas. 🙂
I did not add any rivets, except some positive ones onto the propeller cover. The rest is part of mould.

Thanks Sergej! I assumed so ..... your pictures gives me a good base for my 1:72 build of the A8 version. There I have to add a lot of rivets ... congrats again to this beautiful build 🙂 and thanks for sharing the information 👍👍
