SS-Panzerregiment 12

This is one of my very early builds.

The model should represent tank number 615, belonging to SS-Panzerregiment 12 "Hitlerjugend", 6th company.

After the training in Belgium in 1943, the 12th SS Panzer Division was moved to Normandy in March 1944. On 6 June 1944, the division, along with the 21st Panzer Division, was the closest Panzer division to the Sword and Juno landing beaches. They were mostly engaged fighting British and Canadians around Caen. This particular tank and its crew were destroyed during their first battle, in June 1944.

The division itself suffered huge casualties during Normandy landings, losing over 8000 men and over 80% of its tanks.
