This is a classic tamiya model for a classic fighter，the whole kit is smooth and very detailed，except the decal， it is too damm thick！I have various kinds of decal softener，tamiya，mr hobby，microscale，vallejo，none of them works......So the chessboard painting on the cowling could be a little tricky. Although the pattern is included in the decal, I doubted it would be applied nicely. I've got this big heavy black book called "Aircraft Scale modelling F.A.Q" by Daniel Zamarbide,it introduced an intresting way to paint the chessboard by airbrush, I always want to give it a try, now the time is perfect. Well，the whole process was simple，but not easy，it required ton of masking, yet when you removed all the mask tape, it was just worth it. And to be honest it was so much fun! I definitely will do that again！In the end I coundn't bear to put any weathering on it. I mean look at it，so shinny!
