Very beautiful built. The 300ZX is one of my favorite cars. It looks good. The only thing is the slight color difference of the hood. With metallics, I always paint the parts together. I attach the "loose" parts to the openings with adhesive tape from the inside so that the parts don't have any contact. This is how I prevent them from sticking together through the paint.

Thank you Christian! I was really hoping not to mess this one up as I am still learning the ropes and the 300 ZX is one of my all time favourites as well. You are right about the hood. I only noticed this when I finished spraying everything and I wondered if this has been like that because the hood came in on a clear part or if I simply applied different thickness of spray layer.
Thank you for the great tip! I will definitely do that with my next build.

You're welcome!
AS you wrote now, I thought also about it, while I wrote my sent5ences: is the hood clear plastics? It could be a reason of the different color. But If you basecoated everything the same way, I think, it should not happen. On my damn Messerschmitt Kabinenrollen (1956 Messerschmitt KR200 - wip | Album by christian-w (1:24)) I had a big problem with a non-propper shine of the clear coat of the "canopy" of the drivers cabin (picture #4). On this kit, it is also completely a clear part. At the end, I used a couple of layers of "Future" to solve the problem. Satidfied, but not perfect. And I don't care 😄

On my Pontiac built, I shot a picture of the taped-from-the-inside-hood coincidetially: [img1]

I think, with that pictures, it is clear. Notice the rear view mittors, taped on the T-Bar of the roof 😉

Actually, your Messerschmitt looks fine to me - you did a good job fixing it. In the end, the important bit is to ask yourself if you had fun working on it and if you are happy with the end result. If the answer is yes, then I would call that a success!

I love the rear vie mirrors taped to the roof. Out of the box thinking! 🙂

Absolutely agree!

The mirrors get this "glass"-thing and that should overlay the missing paint on this spots.

Album info

Probably my best car effort to date. I had a picture of a blue 300 ZX in my room as a kid, so naturally, I had to go with blue metallic here. I have improved quite a lot when it comes to wet sanding, spraying and varnishing compared to my previous cars and, not counting the messy clear parts, I am quite happy with the result.
Now if only I had enough money to buy the real one... 🙂
