Tachikawa Ki-55 build

Album image #1
A quick start on what should be a quick build, 'just for fun'. I felt like a simpler build for a change. If this aircraft was offered in 1:48 scale, I would build it instead, but it probaby would take longer.
It's an old Fujimi kit, but I wish all kits designed in this century had its precision in fit. Just putting the main parts together promises good things.

Album image #2
The Ki-33 observation windows must be filled in for the trainer ki-55, which is just as well given the shape of the transparent parts offered with the kit. The bomb rack holes must also be filled in.
Nice surface detail all over the kit, incuding here.

Album image #3
A quick job of busying the very open cockpit, not worrying too much about accuracy (documentation is very scarce at any rate). The seats need serious slimming and reshaping.

Album image #4
I opted for a dark green finish for the interior of the cockpit, not knowing any better about Tachikawa airplanes. If anybody knows better, let me know for. Ext time !
A few control boxes, cables and throttle levers to pupulate the living room...

Album image #5
And the wing's filling in has begun.

Album image #6
Semi-gloss varnish and seatbelts added to the cockpit and the fuselage falls together (well, I minimized the location pins which misaligned the two halves a bit).
I will plug the hole in the back since I think it was just there for the rear gun of the Ki-36. And there is a small gap with the canopy there.

Album image #7
Wings opening filled in and sides joining the fuselage thinned down a bit for a better fit, and they are ready to be glued. There will be a gap in the back, obviously.

Thanks for your interest. It's not going to be as involved and accurate as my other builds. More of a no-(self)-pressure quick and colorful side project while others wait for my divided attention 😉
