Slave 1 a.k.a. Boba Fett's Starship (Firespray)

Not sure I made it better or worse with todays additions. Time will tell. Still lots to do. 

After consulting my newly arrived "Sculpting a galaxy" book I realized my colors were way off. I misted everything with some gull gray, changed the darkest green to a more muddish Brown-Green and basically redid the shoe. Also started blocking in colors on the backside. 

while still a far cry from being screen accurate, I've gotten a lot closer. Colors are much more muted and less toy like due to the misting. The back piece still needs a bit of paint, but I'll apply that with a brush, as masking this is a real pita.
 

started weathering the back, also added lights to it. Lots of fiber optics, it's gonna be a tight fit when this is done. The 'grid' of the upper engine perfectly supports .8mm drillbits, so at least we don't have to worry about misaligned holes.  

While the Slave 1 is not yet done (I'm airbrushing outside, so weather is unfortunately a factor), I started working on the base. Since I put a lot of work into this model, I decided it needs something special for the base, so now I'm trying my first sculpt while also using my hot wire cutter for the first time. 

Had a bit of sunshine today and I was able to get 99% of the painting done. Next step is wiring and then I'll finally be able to put it all together.  

Pretty much done with the ship, just have to close up the hole at the bottom of the cockpit as Revell for whatever reason decided to put hinges on the glass. 

First shot with the base, the size makes it hard to capure for a 50mm lens. 

with these last 2 images, I'm calling it good.  

It was a fun project, learned a lot and made tons of mistakes. Thanks for tagging along for the ride and I'll see you on the next one.
