I have one of those bulldozers that was referenced in the triple axle freight liner post. Let me know if you’d like it? I just love your choice and finished model cars! If your looking a better car transporter this one is nice. Auto Transport Trailer (Revell 85-1509, 1:25)

Thank you for the offer but I am not a bulldozer builder. I basically build semis to be muscle car haulers.
Regarding the Auto Transporters. I have 2 of those in my stash. Someday...

Awesome. I hear you on the not enough time… I look forward keeping up with your modeling projects.

How are you Bill. I was wondering if you can point me to a resource or tip/secret on how to put in the truck windshields? Seems I always tend to scratch them or get them scratched. I appreciate it!
30 December 2021, 12:33
Bill Newcomer
Here are my tips:
As soon as the box is opened and before any building commences, I put the windows in their own ziploc baggie. It protects them from scratches when other parts are pulled in and out of the box during the build. I wait until the cab is totally painted inside and out before handling the windows for installation.
If a window has scuffs or scratches, Future floor polish (Now known as Pledge) can be brush applied to the window to hide them. It is self leveling and dries crystal clear.
I use Testors red tube glue very sparingly in places that do not show just to hold it in its proper place.
LATER I wick Testors window maker glue around the entire perimeter. It too dries crystal clear and has no solvents in it to damage the windows. Later if the entire model itself is to be coated in Future it is ok if the windows get done too (if they have not been by that point). I have actually saved a badly glue damaged window with increasingly fine grit sandpapers and Future. BTW if you mess up the coating of Future, it can be removed completely with household ammonia.

Thank you for taking the time to share your wisdom in detail! Let me know if you ever need anything. Have a Happy New Years!

Going to try this on the matchbox Mack cruise liner which had scuffs on the windshield. I really appreciate it!

How is Jarrett doing these days?

Jarrett
I am sorry, the divorce got to me a few times and just now getting my life back, a better happier life but getting back into things like lego and models and other stuff. I see I have a lot to get up to speed with, any new reissues? I almost done with the divorce and soon to get a settlement so like to get all the new model kits. How has things been? I had to also removed my email account associed this this site so I'll need to fix that.

If you want something from my collect it is your dude. Let me know. I am so sorry you never received the decals maybe because my ex sent them lol

Wow, they re-release it for you - International Transtar 4300 Eagle (AMT 1394, 1:25). I will by a couple Lol. Also thinking I am going to build these in legos with my young boys.

I am glad to see you are alive and well. My parents went through a divorce when I was in grade school but I won't get into that. You have been out of the loop for a bit. I have a new job (again) and have been clearing projects off the bench. My 3 year old 70 El Camino is done and so is my 67 Shelby GT-350 as well. My four Big Girl Pontiacs are nearly done. I spent some time this evening making sure the engines play nice with the chassis and the body. Have you gotten any build time since we conversed last?
5 December 2023, 05:30
Jarrett
Only built the Lego Optimus Prime lol. I am back to normal and will look to start again next year because I will have to move to a 2-bedroom place. I am sorry. The divorce was harder on me and yeah that is a lot to get into and seems a lot of similar stories come from other people that are divorced however mine is different and more closer to the person you mentioned about hoarding but instead they humanlike dogs and don't care about any human. It is nice to hear from you as well and glad you are doing well! I hope this new job finds you well! Again if you want a model I have just tell me, I know you might not have time but you are always welcomed to anything I have friend. I am not sure what I will start with but need to find a paiting method that will work in an apartment and looks good lol. Glad to see you building all those awesome cool muscle cars. Do you still own one or have fond memories watching them drag race or when you were a teenanger? I will let you know this sometime next year I am getting my class A license. I doubt I will ever get the truck that started my passion but maybe, lol but this is something I have wanted to do since I was a kid when my Dad handed me a diecast Freightliner FLB truck with lowboy and bulldozer and then all the toys I had were trucks as that craze was ending so naturally we have to pursue our goals and dreams and what makes us happy. I will learn on a Mack Granite I think, 10-speed lol, should be really fun for me. You still live near Microsoft in Washington?
5 December 2023, 18:53
Jarrett
Do you want the Marmon/Peterbilt model I sent you the decals for? It is brand new without said decals but can give you the decals to the original Marmon/Peterbilt that does not have the stars and stripes. Let me know? If not think I'll make that into a Marmon daycab but if you want it is yours and I'll buy another.
5 December 2023, 18:59
Jarrett
I have to go through all the boxes I have and I am not sure what I am doing but have too many parts and such and I'd like to downgrade a little bit so let me know if you liked anything. I will take pictures during the Christmas week and I can email them to you if you'd like so let me know.
5 December 2023, 20:08
Bill Newcomer
Jarrett. For painting in an apartment, I would get a premade/filtered paint booth. Try to find one that will readily let you run some flexible drier duct out a window. Just be nice to the neighbors to keep them from turning you in to the manager.

Yes I do own a muscle car. Though it it is an upscale one. Here is a link to my album:
1972 Pontiac Grand Prix (x4) | Album by musclecarfan

I have a few REVELL kits on my wishlist. I am not particular as to the vintage and/or version. I always do custom livery anyways.
Kenworth K-100
Peterbilt 353
Ford Aeromax 106
Kenworth W-900
The Marmon/Pete you mentioned above.
Whatever you do not have space for, I will find some at my place.
Thank you for the kind offer.
Any leftover parts or failed builds would be great. I like customizing and adding things.

Good Luck on the CDL license. I had one for awhile when I lived in Nebraska. I let it lapse after being in Washington and not needing it.

My next project is the AMT doubles trailers. I am going to see if I can incorporate a Tommy lift on one of them.
6 December 2023, 06:56
Jarrett
Nice I would love to see those trailers with the lift. I have two of those kits one not opened and one that is parts, the tandom trailers. Sure I'll take pictures and then you let me know. Sure I have a few of the one's above I can send you. Wow, nice tell me what trucks have you driven? Wow that car is awesome! So I take it you never received those decals? I am sorry about that.
6 December 2023, 13:55
Jarrett
I know you mentioned you had some success with an acrylic paint or is that just an addition to regular paint. I am on the third floor and have a patio that points to the parking lot and not really sure if that would bother anyone like if I did the painting late at night, lol. I would love to 3D print already painted parts lol
6 December 2023, 14:05
Jarrett
Did you buy the Transtar 4300 Eagle re-release?
6 December 2023, 14:06
Jarrett
Visited Autoworld and there is like 25 models I have to buy lol. I love how Revell is doing the 1/32 trucks and trailers again, hope they do not stop yet and hope there is a market for them...
6 December 2023, 15:55
Bill Newcomer
The Tommy lift from the Coke box truck is a tuck-under style. The axles on the tandem trailers are right at the back bumper. I will have to get creative to convert it to a tailgate style lift.

I have only driven one big straight truck and It was a Ford LN8000 with an air bag tag axle. The company used it to deliver bagged ice from Omaha to Scottsbluff Nebraska. I would volunteer to make the run once in awhile for the overtime.

My GP is pretty awesome. It has a 14 speaker, 4 amplifier, stereo system in it. I have it rigged with a 2nd deep cycle battery so that I can park by the airport and jam at full blast for over 4 hours and then still start the car. 🙂 I have a spare 455 in a storage unit and am saving some money to freshen it up.

Unfortunately, no decals.

If you are not heavily invested in paints, now would be the time to switch to acrylics. I, personally, have very limited exposure to them as I have vast supply of enamels and lacquers. It would be nice to be able to clean with water instead of solvents though.

I was nearly ready to pull the trigger on a 3D printer but I have found that for the few things I am looking for, I can just buy them from Shapeways. I simply do not have the space for one and my wife would not be tolerant of the fumes or the noise.

I have not pulled the trigger on the Transtar. I am more of a Pete and KW guy.

I have not strayed from 1/25-1/24 kits. The pieces are as small as I want to deal with and I like my fleet to look like they belong together on the shelf.
7 December 2023, 03:20
Jarrett
I remember you wanting the Transtar in a previous conversation or just the one from the 70s... International Transtar F-4270 (ERTL 8001, 1:25)
That is pretty cool, this Shapeways, do you have to provide them the CAD files to make the item?
I know I offered you this Hide Out truck in the past because you can hold a car with it and it is the original sealed from 82' still want it? I was 3yrs old lol.

Jarrett
That is pretty cool, if I bought let's say some N and HO-scale from this Shapeways can I still use acrylic? Pretty cool indeed. I wish they had the bigger scales but you can custom order too. Well I think I am going to finish this truck and I believe I am missing the inside cab part which was red but I have a white one lol. I have the chassis which is metal at the time period but it's complete and it's a good getting back in the groove kit. I will post pics as I go alone next year since this time is nuts. I just accepted a settlement and my Ex keeps the house so have to get all the utilities switched over, read and sign docs and the Holiday's so next year will be good probably more Jan if I stay at the current apartment or April if I move but at least I am back into building all kinds of things and hopefully one day to drive a real truck! I remember that truck a lot when I was younger. What transmission and engine did the one have that you drove?
7 December 2023, 17:51
Jarrett
I guess with 3D parts you can make the total piece count less and keep the detail, hmm, is a great option for a truck you want in 1/25 scale like an international eagle 9000 COE.

It can be debated but the old trucks and cars had more style and personality. You enjoy and hope all is well and let me know if you ever need anything. I will email those picks of parts after Christmas because my boxes are hiding the Christmas gits to the kids lol. Just make sure to send me your address and email address again. Thanks.

Cool. I will check them out when I want to build something cool. Before painting in acrylic would you use any type of primer. I have always been laquering (Lacking) in paint area, lol. Thanks for the info again.

Bill you are the best and I will check them out. I really appreciate it. Hope you had a great weekend.

You are welcome. I actually purchase new paints based on his tests. I am a lacquer fan due to its ability to gloss without wet sanding. My killer paint booth does away with the fumes in spite of painting in the middle of the house.
12 December 2023, 05:39
Jarrett
Yeah Lacquer is harsh and I if I ever get an awesome paint booth like you or the other master builders lol it will be in a while, years, lol. The divorce set me back on living space. I will be in an apartment at least one more year lol. I will get some items together for you after Christmas and ship them to you end of Jan, beginning Feb.

Hey Bill, I have to downsize some items. The divorce has left me to apartment living for now lol and plus I will just never get to any of these models. I am happy to sell any to you at big discounts so long as you pay for shipping, lol. If not I will include a large size box of tons of parts and freebies to you once I move. If you are interested please check my stash and let me know.

Thanks Jarrett. I will take a look.

It was hard to do but I have narrowed down the list to 7. I probably cannot afford all of them but I do have some hobby money stashed away. Here they are in order of desired priority:

1) Kenworth K-100 Revell 85-2513
2) Peterbilt 353 Alaska Revell 07444
3) Peterbilt 359 Wrecker Revell 85-1508
4) Kenworth W-900 Revell 07538
5) Peterbilt Racing Truck Revell 7533
6) Western Star Revell 7517
7) Marmon Conventional Revell 7457

Let me know what you want for each and I will then reprioritize them based on my budget. I shall pay the shipping as requested.
26 January, 03:57
Jarrett
I cannot tell you how much I paid for some of these as they were a lot but what are you willing to give me for each as you are helping me out and I help you out 🙂 All were 200+ each but you will also pay for shipping lol. Let me know.
I will throw in that Trailer you wanted and more parts you will know what to do with 🙂
Shipping might be expensive though and we can do one a month as well or whatever
Heavy Duty Trailer (Revell 07533, 1:25)

07533

1) 75 bucks you can have it - it is sealed - paid 175 for it
2) 100 bucks you can have it - it is not sealed but brand new, I just check awesome parts - paid 175 for it
3) I paid 400+ for it lol what can you give? 275? It is sealed
4) Let me see if I have it lol but 75 as I paid around 175
5) 125 - sealed - paid 250 for it
6) 50 - not sure if it is sealed paid 125
7) 125 - it was sealed and I opened it to check out the parts, nice and you can do a Pete instead - paid 250
If you have big pockets I do have the these two sealed, I paid 400+ each, I would take 275 each

Sortimo Show Truck (Revell 7552, 1:24)
Thurn & Taxis Show Truck (Revell 7548, 1:24)

You are offering fair prices. My problem is I have more than I can build already. I am really trying to cut back. You have offered some kits I would still like to get however.

1) $75 yes
2) Not yet
3) Over my budget
4) Not yet
5) No (reissues are going for $50-60)
6) $50 yes. Open OK
7) No (I hear it basically a Peterbilt with a different grille)
A) HD Trailer yes
B) ANY parts yes
C) Show Trucks (Out of my budget)
D) Hideout Truck yes

I can do $260 for 1,6, A,B,D If it is enough to cover shipping.
USPS requires box total dimensions L+H+W LESS THAN 108"
5-ish kits should fit in a box around 24x18x10.
I weighed a couple of kits and they were just over 1lb each.
I do not know your zip code so I guessed somewhere in Georgia
Rough estimate was $109 for USPS Ground Advantage.
Cheapest FedEx was $93
UPS drop at counter and fixed rate medium package was $45

My address is in this thread.

Let me know.

Jarrett
Okay no sweat man I have only offered to Bozzer and you. Yeah we all have too much to build lol. Okay I do need to get rid of some stuff so I will definitely give you free stuff. Since I know I am moving I will go through everything and send you picks. Shipping does suck and I work for UPS in I.T. and I do not even get a discount lol. Glad you are willing to take freebies lol because I feel like they will not sell on eBay and just wind up throwing them out and want them to at least go to a home. I kind of went overboard, lol. I will send you picks later tonight after my kids go back to their moms. I appreciate it very much and you are a great friend!!!
28 January, 17:39

Ok cool. I will be looking forward to seeing the picks. Thank you for your generosity.

I appreciate the offer. I just cannot justify that much for one model. I am NOT say it is not worth it. It is just that I have SO SO many to build that I would rather spend it on paint for the others.
30 January, 05:03
Jarrett
I totally understand and figured to at least give you the chance first before I unload them, lol. Did not know they reissued that racing truck, lol. Seems like they are releasing a lot of truck models... never knew there was a lot of demand for them but cool. Well let me know if you want anything.

Let me know what I need to PayPal you. I am good for it. Regarding the Transporter, I already have two of the trailers in my stash to build. I am saving them for when my skills get a bit better.
6 February, 05:10
Jarrett
I assume them to be a lot of intricate pieces. I do not have paypal. Is that all you use? We will find a way. I sent you the email of the photos. I will open the parts boxes and see how much I can add to the box and then will send it for you soon. I really appreciate it!!!
6 February, 21:02
Bill Newcomer
I just viewed the pics. It seems you have added in the Revell KW T-900 Australia. If that is a parts truck, that is cool. I do have one of them in my stash. I am saving it for when my skills are ready to do a blinged out chrome tanker trailer combo. I can mail you a check if you wish. I am not signed up on any of the cash apps.
7 February, 04:49
Jarrett
Oh I thought you wanted that t900 truck, lol. well I am giving you a free kit so which one you want, I can give you a Marmon....
7 February, 17:22
Jarrett
I could not give you any parts since that is an undertaking. unboxed the T900 Australian truck and the Western Star show truck and packed it nice and snug with some packing peanuts I had so I will ship them on the twelfth this Monday. Yeah probably easy just to mail me a check lol after you receive the items of course.

I getting confused about the T900 and the Western Star Show Truck you mentioned above.
I thought these were the ones we have been discussing...

Kenworth K-100 Revell 85-2513
Western Star Revell 7517
Heavy Duty Trailer (Revell 07533, 1:25
Hide Out Truck (Matchbox/AMT PK-8405, 1:25

I am interested in the Peterbilt 353 over the T900 if that works for you.

Please let me know what you are eventually planning to ship.
8 February, 06:30
Jarrett
Let me do this since I already packed the box. I gave you the T900 and Western Star Show truck for free. I will ship this first box out this Monday. I'll make you a second box with the Peterbilt 353 and parts. If you want anything else at that point like the wrecker or anything I can give you good prices let me know. I appreciate so much. Better to give you someone then to throw them in the trash lol.

I am shipping out that box this week and will send you the tracking number.

Ok thank you. I shall be on the look out for it. 🙂
20 February, 06:38
Jarrett
Sent it today with FedEx - Tracking # 271242173579 - it is scheduled to arrive on 2/28 - I have also emailed you a copy of the FedEx shipping receipt.

Had to do the cheapest and it was still 113.62 lol. If you can maybe split this or at least give 50 with your original 260 offer that would be sweet.

Thank you so very much for helping me out with taking some of these models off my hands!!!
21 February, 17:44
Bill Newcomer
Ok thank you. I can certainly help with shipping costs. I am looking forward to seeing what you have sent. I shall send payment the day after the box arrives. I can mail you a check for sure. PayPal would be easiest if you had it.
