Anywhere from an hour to a year and beyond, depending on who you ask.
And what the weather is in your area, humidity is a big factor.
I'm making an m4a3e2 and I'm using enamel paints. How in just curious how long it may take so I know I'm not rushing it
Flat paint is normally faster to work with than gloss paint, so you should be good to go in a few hours.
This is my first model I'm painting so I wanna be sure I'm doing it right do I paint each part, let it dry, then assemble the parts?
It is totally a matter of preference. BUT, the usual way is to get all the major components together. That way you can do whatever gap filling and the like you need to. THEN do the painting.
Be sure to mix the paint well and to thin it so it flows well. If there are decals to be applied, you will need to add gloss varnish and afterward to make it matt again. Make sure the enamels have dried for at least 24 hours then.
There are so many factors to this question it is almost impossible to answer. But I give you a range as an answer just to get an idea: Somewhere between 1 hour and 10 years.
it takes what it takes😉 do not rush it. And remember, it is better very thin layers than thicker ones. do not try to do it in one go.
And of course, it is not the same brush, and airbrush.

Lots of them in 1/72, just to name a few: BV141, Rotodyne, X-29, Sea Vixen, GeeBee, Go229, Saab J-21, Cutlass, early Yakovlev jets, Ar234, VVA-14, Co50 Valkyrie (and many other Amodels), Skyray, Do335, He162, Hansa Jet, AH-56. Predator-family drones are nice if you don't want to struggle with the cockpit building. Unusual tanks: Merkava, Strv 103.
