After a 21 year military career, I spent 10 years as a senior executive with a major international/domestic airline, before getting the opportunity to retire early in life at the age of 47. This has finally led me to re-exploring building plastic model kits, among other hobbies.

January 2021, a new year, so how the hell did I end up here.....well may you ask!

Back in about 2013, my daughter presented me with the Airfix 1:48 Dogfight Doubles, A50160, Messerschmitt Bf109E-7 and Supermarine Spitfire Mk.Vb kit as a present for my birthday. She was unsure if I would even like it, but unbeknown to her, her choice of subject couldn't have been more perfect. Assuring her of her perfect choice, I also told her I was going to spend the time and effort on the builds. More on that later.

Now, my son (a serving member of the RAAF) has been building plastic model aircraft kits (and other kits) for years, even doing some as presentation gifts for departing members from his squadron, so his modelling skills are advanced. Some four years ago he started building wooden model sailing ships, another area I had wanted to explore since my teenage years - but that's an entirely separate story. This was followed a year ago with him introducing me to the Warlord Games miniature tabletop wargame series, Black Seas in 1:700 scale, and me subsequently expanding into the Blood Red Skies series in 1:200 scale. I soon realised I needed to invest in a large inventory of paint, and whilst I was at it, finally get that airbrush and compressor I had always intended to purchase. This was the beginning of the end and why I am now here.....but not before some more procrastination which saw me into 2021.

World War II aircraft kits, predominantly British and German, and Napoleonic era wooden sailing ship kits are my main interest areas, but World War II, German and US armoured vehicle kits are also a secondary interest area.

EDIT. So, it's now 2022. Ignore anything I said above about my main interest areas.....they have exploded and my STASH has become a STABLE and I am in financial distress! LOL
