Album info

Airfix 1/72 Curtiss Hawk 81-A-2. Painted as a 1942 SAAF Kittyhawk in North Africa. I know it's probably totally wrong from an accuracy point of view, but most people who will see it in my house will probably just say 'oh a Spitfire' anyway!

Airbrushed using Alclad 2 Milspec enamels. The cammo was done freehand. Finished with Vallejo pigments to make it look a bit dusty.

My objective here was to practice weathering and some chipping and to test out the pigments on something other than a tank! I went a bit overboard with the chipping next to the cockpit, but as long as I keep repeating the mantra 'less is more', it will all be good next time!

Great little kit. One side of the fuselage was seriously warped, but some superglue to hold it when I joined the two halves helped the Tamiya Extra thin do its job.

I also need to think of a way of photographing the underside of aircraft. For some reason I always feel like I did the best job on the underside!!
