Very interesting project.
What's picture 48 about? Looks like some kind of 3d scan.

Exactly, I'm trying to make a copy of the canopy because the original one is damaged.

New canopy looks good, Petr. Looking forward to your further improvements.

What layer thickness did you use?
I tried some clear resin as well but I am still fighting a bit with it as I cant keep it clear after curing. The layers are very visible and it becomes clouded.
Did you do something else besides dipping it in 2K clear coat?

Today, after the clear coat was cured the layer lines showed too and it is a little bit cloudy... :/ I'll try another method.

Found some solutions here:
formlabs.com/blog/3d..nishing-clear-resin/
I will also give them a try.

Basically sanding and then applying some clear coat spray.
I think I've seen some youtube videos as well where people did this to large amounts of resin water so you can look at the 3d printed fish they sealed in it.

With the thin canopy parts I can imagine that sanding and clear coating will be necessary from both sites.

I'll try that, thanks.

Thanks for sharing, Petr. 👍
Maybe I can give these methods a try this weekend.
Instead of 2K products I'll see if my Vallejo 28.650 Polyurethane Gloss Varnish is still okay.
It's also UV resistant and it could give me a reason to use it again.

Absolutely you should share, how it turned out.

I have not had any success printing clear parts. They always turn yellow, no matter what I do. Now all I can do is print a mold and then vacuform some clear PETG over it.

I hope you have lucky, David.

Album info

Old model, that I've decided to restore especially because of bad alignment of parts, paint applied with a brush, and overall poor appearance.
