Very nice! Are you going to add additional details to your airwings as well? And will you add crew-figures? I built my "TR" with a lot of figures, was quite a challenging work, but very rewarding in the end!

So the kit comes with the lower deck as well? Interesting. I was thinking it could look nice next to the container ship 'Colombo Express' in the same scale.

Yes Treehugger. The Colombo Express is excellent for a diorama as well. Hajo, I add the figures from Eduard only 🙂

I used a technique to make them more 3D than 2D... Interested?

I put woodglue on the figures. The glue dries transparent, but makes them a bit "thicker". A final matt clear coat prevents the glossy look the glue would otherwise cause.

I can see myself having fun with this kit. Especially with photo etch, but also spending time scraping the small jets so that they have thinner wings, and maybe fill in any panel lines seen on the small jet models.

Tolle Idee, Hajo. Vielen Dank 🙂

Btw, there is even photo etch products for the catapult ramps, specifically the jet blast deflectors.

I wonder, if the scribed detailing on the deck is found too deep, one could easily sand down the plastic to reduce the depth of the scribed lines I am thinking. Having said that, I guess it is possible that the more plastic you remove, the slightly wider the panel line becomes.

I think I will sand the uneven surface perfectly smooth myself (when I get the non-2005 kit), because the rough plastic would not be to scale.

Tip: Looking at photo number 10. If you want to fill in sink marks and holes, I suggest adding Vallejo putty, but in such a way that the putty sticks up like an ice cream cone, then you can let it dry abit, then cut off the top with a sharp blade, then sand smooth once the putty had dried enough on top so that the putty doesn't shrink further, super easy compared to using other types of putty I would think. Vallejo putty normally shrink, but if you give it a top, then it can shrink as much as it wants, one just cut off the excess at the end.

Aren´t you folding the wings of that F-18? Or is it just a placeholder yet?
