Watching with great interest since I have this kit too. Keen to see your experiences with this one. You're off with a great start 👍

Thanks you all! It's more challenging than an Tamiya or Eduard kit but, it has enough details to make a final build as detail as these two major brand. The quality of the plastic is also top notch IMO, although the mold finish is not as polished as big brand kit would be. Surface primer & and sanding paper will fix that in no time.

It had been a while since I had sawed trough resin parts, applied putty in seems and check the job with primer. It reminded me of the prototyping model I was doing in College & at the toy company.

MY first attempt at fastening the upper was not a success. I applied Revel & Tamiya glue on the upper wing, waited a few minutes and tried to attach it to the lower wing. The pillar where moving and eventually disconnected during adjustments removing some paint around the connection area.

I changed strategy and finally glued the pillars on the lower wings using crazy glue. I now need to patch the spot were the paint is missing. It's going to be a delicate job since the the decals are already applied.

Things went from bad to worst when I did the touch ups. I had applied Tamiya tape over the decals to protect them from paint, but when I removed them, they brought the decals with them (pics 37 & 38). I'll should be able to replace the chevron but, the number will be missing on one side.

Oh no that's bad news Guillaume! I always spray a layer of some transparent stuff, like Future etc, to seal the decals. After that you can quite safely cover them with Tamiya tape. When I build mine I think I will fit the struts first with some Mircro Liquitape, too bad you find out the bad way.. Hope you have some spare number decals?

Doh! Don't give up Guillaume. If the number & chevron is a deal breaker for the project PM me and I'll see if I can dig some up around here.

Thanks for the cheering.

Erick, I did sprayed some Tamiya clear coat of the decals to protect them, but the coat (that was not the final coat) was too thin I think. I also noted that the decals provided were on the fragile side. With hindsight, I should have glues the wings together before painting & installed the decal at the very end even if it would have made the application more complex. I didn't knew about Micro Liquitape, looks interesting.

Nathan thank fort the offer mates. I should be able to replace the chevrons using some from a FW-190 kit that won't require them. As for the missing marking number, it's going to be the side that won't be seen from it's display position, so I'll live with it until the day I decide to try my decal paper in the printer.

Thanks Erik. It was more challenging than the usual mainstream kits but even more rewarding.
