thanks all....a fair amount of giggling took place the whole time the model (and the new winged stand) were underway....just a complete lark...with a giant orange wing....

Excellent result! (I build this model to about 20 years ago and know this old kit)

Thank you everyone! This was about as much of a modeling lark as could be imagined ,,,..

...while the new flash setup is up, it also has a flaw, which was probably present in the old setup....it has a distinct blue hue on the backside of the models from the reflected blue background.

This lead to an investigation and purchase of two inexpensive flash units to add to the two flash setup now. These will be used to fill in the rear with flash daylight balanced light and hopefully give a more realistic result.

Photos of and from the modified and enhanced flash setup, once in place.

Again, thanks, everyone...your words are an inspiration...

A new sample photo using the new flash setup with four wireless controlled flashes, two as the main lights and two as backlights to fill in the color and add some modeling.

More discussion of the flash setup to come later....

Beautiful work on an old and challenging kit. Those were truly elegant flying boats! I especially like the in-flight display from a Vega's wing.

Album info

This was a simple project that never made it into Scalemates....brittle plastic, missing parts....all the decals are printed on an ink jet or harvested from other kits...

....and some lazy modeler posted it with a cardboard stand....so it was time for a change...
