After almost knocking off the Pitot probe on the nose, I decided I would take it off cleanly.
And away it goes...
Using a hypodermic needle and some 0.5 mm brass tube, I managed to get a fairly good Pitot probe.
I left the probe in the burnishing solution for too long: it ate away the brass part of the tube... So I had to make another one!
The kit doesn't feature the engine nozzles, so I figured I could manufacture them using a round styrene rod and a grinding the nozzles inner shape with a grinding bit attached to my Dremel.
I love the details on the hatch door!
I ended up redoing both Pitot probes.
After I primed the model with AK Grey primer, I did the pre-shading with Tamiya Brown.
Disaster! I don't know what happened exactly, but the paint behaved horribly... Either it got contaminated or it had already turned bad. On top of that, I wanted to use my new Evolution airbrush and it spat drops of paint all over the place! I angrily wiped the mess I made, considering for a moment putting the plane in a box forever. And my wife wanted the dining table back so I had to clean my mess and call it a day...
Okay, a week has passed and I decided I would win this fight! So I decided I had to strip the paint, all the way down to the primer. With a lot of Q-tips and a bottle of isopropanol, I managed to kick my botched paintjob into oblivion.
Behold! No orange gunk anymore!
A week after that, I did the preshading again and sprayed a new batch of paint, having thoroughly tested it on plastic spoons. Dilution was 70/30 and it sprayed beautifully, however lacking opacity.
I had to stop the paint job once again, as the wifey needed me for some house chore... So I signed off for the week with a new sense of confidence.
Aaaaaand there it is! This time, paint was diluted 60/40 and I had a blast spraying it.
After I finished spraying the orange (Lifecolor LC-55), I applied a mist of highly diluted Tamiya Yellow on top.

Thank you James, build is on hold until next week. There's still a lot to do and I have great expectations, so I hope you'll find the rest interesting!

Thanks Spanjaard. This kit is tricky sometimes, and it takes a lot of dry fitting all along, but, overall, I guess it will be a nice addition to my finished projects.

Looks great!
On mine, the fitting was a bit off. The starboard stab was lower and one wing was further forward than the other.
Indeed takes a bit of dry fitting and fiddling, but still makes a good model.
