Yeah It's beyond me why that is, and I cant figure out how to delete the upside down ones :/

you can delete them if you click on the album then click on "manage", simply click on the little icon of a trash-can in the right.
you can rotate the images by using the "advanced options" after clicking on "manage"

i believe that the reason the pictures appear with "different orientation" has a lot to do with the EXIF info that cameras store with the images. camera detects it is in not normal orientation and add that to the image. the software to view them in the computer reads that and rotate them automatically, so all seem fine when you look at them in your computer. but they revert to the original orientation of the camera when upload to scalemates.
but i may just completely wrong about it😉

if you have any doubt about rotate them, let me before before you delete them 🙂
