Nice progress and thanks for the heads-up on the brittle plastic.
I don't mind the narrow upper stripe, it fits the sleek overall appearance of the viper. 👍

Thanks! I don't know what the deal with my kit is, but it's got some issues. The upper engine nacelle, the internal part of the upper fuselage that goes underneath that nacelle, and the lower fuselage were all warped. The main landing gear also doesn't fit without substantial filing, so ignore the instructions about adding the main gear before fuselage assembly. Then again I'm apparently the only one doing a gear down version 😄

I'm still undecided on the main gear being up or down... But I'll postpone the build until I feel comfortable enough to get it done properly. The warped parts and fit issues do sound like fun...😄 makes me want to crack open the box and check my parts.

Are you going to finish her beaten up and spaceweathered?

@Rene
I'll do mild weathering, something like first 1~2 sorties' worth of wear. My skills aren't quite up to snuff for the Season 3-level battle scars and paint chipping.

I know this feeling... It all looks so easy in any video 😄
Did you use RLM23 for the stripes? Looks very bright somehow... might be my monitor though.

Good eye, it is RLM23. The LED desk lamp plus my phone camera makes it look a bit brighter than it is.

I did a bit of fiddling around with my kit too. Only dryfitting, and I noticed some warpage around the rear on the fuselage parts too. And that stuff is really damn brittle.... Behaves a bit like clear parts.

Watch out for the decals too. They're quite thick and brittle as well. The roundels have so much transparency that they disappear into the red stripes, so I had to cannibalize the roundels from the stripe decals, which of course don't color-match with RLM23.

Album info

Simple but interesting kit. Used to watch BattleStar Galactica back when it aired in my college days.
