I like the work you have going here, mines on hold as well. LOL. I need to ask you what you used to cut the doors out? I had same idea but wasn't sure how without destroying.

I bought the Bare Metal Foil Panel scriber tool. It's a very fine hook shaped blade that you use to repeatedly scribe around the panel you are removing. So as you scribe it removes small slither of plastic. Time consuming but worth it. Check out www.bare-metal.com

Nigel, how do fabricate the hinge? Do you scratch build something or utilise another kits hinges?
Interesting stuff!

My inspiration came from a US modeller Steve Perry, who runs Calnaga Castings, his gallery featured a Ford off road Van that had working opening doors. He fabricated scratch built hinges in brass. I want to try and do something similar. Check out his online store www.calnaga.com - He produces very high quality resin parts, some of which I used on my El Camino.

That website is very good Nigel, some of the carbs are incredible, the Dommies for example, even has performance hose & fittings for genuine race cars.
Thanks for sharing 😉

My pleasure. I was his first customer in the UK. Why is it difficult to get items like these over here?

I just viewed the process for what it takes to make working doors on the van. OMG!

I know that's why I haven't up the courage to try

Try it Nigel. I had to figure that out also. It is completely different on the van to make those rear or sliding doors working as on a cars doors. It was a challenge for me also 😉
