It has been suggested that you can paint the "inside" plastic for the "front gunner seat" black, then you can hide the interior, as there is none. 🙂 So hiding the interior inside the clear part by painting the inside of the "glass" or the plastic inside, black.

Treehugger
I prefer to never paint the insdies of clear parts black, but maybe it could look good on this particular model I am thinking, also for the main cabin I was thinking. So, matte black.

Btw, on a Tu-95 bomber, the rear gunner has some apparently layered bullet proof glass, but probably a detail that is too small to re-create. Iirc, the layering looks like stripes around the framing of the glass.

@ Treehugger - actually I am going to paint insides of gunners' stations black, but there will be some colour inside the cockpit, as I found a peek look into real one here:

I love this monster. But 45€ for this great but quite simple thing... uff.
24 November 2021, 16:09
Robert Podkoński
It is not a cheap hobby any more, Erik... we all face choices and choices and choices 😉
24 November 2021, 17:22
John Hughes
Regarding painting the inside of the windows, I have to wonder if black is the best colour. Ever considered metallic gunmetal or a very dark grey? Might be worth testing options on a bit of transparent scrap first.
24 November 2021, 21:00
Bruce Huxtable
Years ago, someone mentioned how they 'tinted' aircraft canopies, using enamel paints: using metalic gloss black, allow the paint to settle in the tinlet, (don't shake or stir), then use only the liquid at the top to paint the inside of the canopy. I've never tried this myself, but do recall that this Mate had achieved excellent results.
24 November 2021, 21:21
Robert Podkoński
Thank you for your suggestions, John and Bruce - I have to think it over. Actually I have been thinking about cutting off the plastic that goes inside these transparencies (take a look at the photo #3 and tint the transparencies from the insides with diluted transparent blue paint...
24 November 2021, 21:45
Bruce Huxtable
That sounds a much better idea, Robert 🙂

25 November 2021, 09:38

Welcome, Mike! @Bruce: in the meantime I found something that seems to be the best idea here, and does not involve painting or tinting the insides of the transparencies 😉 Details soon, stay tuned!

Thank you, Simon, that was exactly my intention 😉 @Murad - who knows, this was the Soviets' technology, they had a lot of titanium, for example...

Imagine the noise of that monster coming towards you! Very intimidating appearance too !
6 December 2021, 09:12
Robert Podkoński
You're right, Bruce. I wonder how noisy it was in the cockpit, not mentioning the forward gunner station when these huge missiles were launched from above it...what about "Occupational Health and Safety" regulations here? 😉
6 December 2021, 10:54
Robin (WhiteGlint)
Seems to be a nice kit.
6 December 2021, 11:01
Robert Podkoński
The number of parts is surprisingly low and their fit is generally troublefree, WhiteGlint, yet there are inaccuracies and moulding imperfections here and there and deeper modifications would be difficult.
6 December 2021, 14:25
Bruce Huxtable
Will you add some scorch marks on the curved deflector surfaces? Acres of fresh paint with no weathering would be a shame 😉
7 December 2021, 12:14
Robert Podkoński
Surely, Bruce, I am not going to give a "factory fresh" look to this model. Yet, "abandoned" look is not my goal...
7 December 2021, 17:08
Robin (WhiteGlint)
So, like it has been in service for some years? Are you aiming for that, Robert?
7 December 2021, 19:23

Something like on this presentation, WhiteGlint:

But in case of armament it remings me of soviet heavy cruisers. I believe some were armed with the same missile launchers.

That's coming along nice. You put more work into the cockpit than I did. I tried to do mine as part of a 24 hour build but ended up taking three weeks. 🙂 Tacom 1/144 Ekranoplan Lun | Album by Blaposphere
