Thanks Robert for being so fast! 🙂

This fun project is kind of over - I really needed it done quickly so some final touches may be a bit on the "quick and dirty" side... Generally this was huge fun, thank you all for following the build and hope you´ll like the result...

After some tests I decided to use the blue photo booth background this time, I think it works well with the Cat - and makes everything on the photos look +/- as in real life in terms of colors & co... Enjoy!

Great Wildcat Slavo! How was the Eduard kit in general?

Thats a stunning looking Wildcat Slavo, and the pictures are awesome as well.
The weathering looks spot on to me for an aircraft that has seen a fair bit of action, and especially on carrier operations as I doubt much effort would have been put into trying to maintain a "show" finish as we tend to see on todays museum exhibits and at airshows featuring warbirds of the era.
Also, these were considered "disposable" items during the war, and so after being cannibalized for parts would have simply been pushed overboard and replaced once its useful service life had ended.
Congrats and once again, welcome back! 😉👍

Looks beautiful! But all that work on the engine is barely visible 🙁 . Congrats on finishing!

Thanks Mid Franconian, James, Palo, Jim, Guy & Eric!!

Jolly happy you like my little effort! 🙂

@Mid Franconian - The Eduard kit is just a sweetheart... The fit is paradigm, details are really great, super fine and consistent, negative/positive combo, seriously good. There is a lot inside the fuselage (nice pit and fairly detailed LG bay - everything also is +/- visible from some angle afterwards. The Profipack is all you really need, if anything - resin wheels and metal 50.cals may be wortwhile unless you want to 'cut things open'... I loved it OOB...

@James - thanks mate for the kind words - Now I'm affraid what happens next on my pretry over-crowded display shelf... 😄

@Palo - oh the engine can actually be seen fairly well, I just could not get a good light in there during the shoot in the booth. But it's reasonably visible IRL... 🙂

@Jim - thanks & pretty much back with plans in my mind already... Also keeping an eye on that Dora of yours! 😉

Thanks Slavo! I am waiting for the FM2 variant which was announced by Eduard 🤤… your description makes me looking forward to it!

Great build Slavo. The conditions these aircraft operated in were extremely tough and your painting represents this wonderfully.

Great looking Wildcat, Slavo! I like the paint modulation, and weathering!

Cant say this plane in itsself is very pretty (getting some Cmelak-Vibes from the shape somehow^^) but the paint application is amazing - topped off by sexy dirt effects in masterclass execution 👍 Hope we'll get spoiled with a contemporary navy jet one day 🙂 👍

I am also a fan of the effects, especially with that matte metallic look that looks beautiful.
Not a fan of WW2 props, but you manage to turn every subject into a showpiece!
Hope that you got your Mojo back - can't wait to see your next project 😉

Thanks Edouard, Marcel, Nathan, Ludvik, Gordon, Daniel, Alexander, Neuling, Robin, Bozo, Erik, Neil & Roland!!

so happy to receive so much positive feedback on this essentially "shot in the blue" (including the photo-background) - not being in any aspect an expert on props or US Naval aviation... 😄 I just "built what I liked"

@Daniel: haha - Cmelak 👍 - was even thinking a while to make a 72-scale de-tour and build the Eduard one... Contemporary Navy Jet - I may wait for the next TOP GUN Movie... 😄

@Alexander - mojo is reasonably back, yeah, but still not enough to dust-off the in-prod MiG-31´s 😄 - so next project thinking hard between a Hellcat & Mig-21 NMF...

Hellcat, Hellcat!! Fits good to your Wildcat IMHO…🤔

Totally impressive result 👍 Your work with oils is sooo great, I should book a weekend training class at your bench.

Thanks Simon, Juergen, John, Frank, Nathan and Guillaume!! I am really happy that so many of you like the little Cat! 🙂

@Mid Franconian - I had a look at the MiG with all the brassin and stuff I have for it and it looks like it could spiral out control as a project, so Hellcat will be a safe bet 😄 Kinda thinking about doing a series of WWII Navy planes and going through all the insignia variants...

@Bug & Nathan - haha thank you Gentlemen! Frankly, that weekend would go like 2-hours oil & rest for beers & drinks - there really is not so much to what I do - I guess if anything, I may have an eye for colors and effect layers & blends due to my background in digital art for the past 20yrs... But I feel flattered by the notion anyway!

Album info

Finished Eduard´s beautiful 48-scale Wildcat - in a sort of "to Hell with realism" kind of way - but having lots of fun in the process... This being my first prop in maybe 25 years, was a pure pleasure from A to Z...
