I accidentally wrote the intro in the comments for the project rather than the album. Here it is:

I've finally decided to tackle Tamiya's 1/32 F4U-1A Corsair kit and of course I have to do one of Pappy Boyington's birds. It's a wonderful kit. I'm using Mr. Color paints and added the Baracuda cockpit decals and resin wheels along with Eduard's cockpit masks. I tried the HGW micro textile seatbelts for the first time and I really like them. Fundekals has a nice reference guide and I plan on using their decals.

The office is complete.

The engine is now complete. The cylinders were painted with Mr. Color silver and given a dark grey Flory wash after a gloss coat. The rest of the paint were basically the Tamiya call-outs. The ignition wiring is copper 0.3mm wire connected with CA glue.

Fantastic engine!
May be it is a bit late, but the ANYZ "braided lines" would be a nice improvement here (or the 0.8mm):

Thanks mates for the encouraging comments! I've been making slow progress and finally finished the main build. Painting has started. Silver was sprayed on the high-traffic areas on the wings, followed by AK worn effects fluid, then by yellow chromate primer. After some wear to show the chipping effect, a gloss coat was applied, followed by another layer of AK worn effects. Panel line preshading and some shading variation was added with scotch brite templates. After some careful review of photos to assess paint colors and wear effects, I decided to go with MRP paints for the main camo colors. The insignia white underside was painted first, followed by the wing undersides in intermediate blue. Painting continues.

The preshading is forecasting nice effects in the future. Looking forward for your next move !

The main camo painting is now complete. I created a palette of various tones of both intermediate blue (IB) and sea blue (SB) ranging from 4:1 to 1:1 (blue:white) to reflect the fading of the various colors and areas of the airframe shown in photos. The wing and stabilizer tops were painted a base of 3:1 for the metal areas and 2:1 for the fabric zones. The cowling was painted much lighter, with a base of 1:1 for both the SB and IB. The fuselage was a base of 2:1 for both SB and IB, with the rudder ~1:1 IB. Various panels were faded and shaded to reflect photos. After painting the walkways, a gloss coat was applied with Mr. Color GX100. Ready for decals. Thanks for looking.

My rendition of Pappy Boyington's 883 is now complete. The Fundekals went on with no problem although the Tamiya stencils were a little thick as usual. For some extra weathering, a couple of rounds of salt fading were applied to the upper surfaces and the prop. A Flory wash was applied to panel lines along with brown/black post-shading and exhaust staining. Colored pencils were used for chips and scratches. Mr. Color GX flat clear was applied as the final coat. Thanks for looking.

Thanks for the very nice comments, Mates! I'm glad you enjoyed the photos. Tamiya did a wonderful job on this kit. It spent quite a long time (for me) in the stash as I thought about how to tackle the paint fading and weathering. I'm happy with how it turned out. Thanks again for the comments.

Thanks again mates for the nice comments and feedback.

@Jose - The riveting was all molded in the kit. I did add and restore rivets that were affected by seams and sanding but most were all there.

@Eric - I used MRP sea blue, intermediate blue and insignia white for the main camo colors. I thought they were pretty accurate compared to the color photos and references I was able to find.

I noticed after i made my comment that this Corsair is 1:32 scale, i thought it was 1:48. Once again, beatiful build and great paint job. I love the faded look you got on that cammo.
