Hi and welcome mates, a lot of transparent parts to mask await you guy and James 🙂
Got the 48 tamiya too but that one will be done in the future!
@David welcome and in pic 4 you can see the fuselage of the ki.109 by Hasegawa
Mitsubishi Ki.109 Interceptor completed | Album by Springbank (1:72)
Cheers Daniel
22 June 2019, 08:01
David Januska
Thanks Daniel. Ki-109 was made from Hiryu bomber?
22 June 2019, 19:47
Daniel Klink
Hi David! Yes they developed it from the Hiryu..But it was not successful anyway
22 June 2019, 21:11
Rick Corts
Bit late but will follow!

19 July 2019, 11:45
Daniel Klink
Hm, the fit of the Cowlings and nacelles could have been better.. Well still some work to do.
It is just a test fit but you see it clearly even without primer.. 🙂
Also did some sanding and rescribing of wrong fuselage panels by HAsegawa
21 July 2019, 21:03
Cuajete
Following one more time, Daniel😉

Slavo Hazucha
Cookies, brownies or cup-cakes, count me in!😉
29 July 2019, 20:15
Daniel Klink
Welcome Slavo, all those window and interior stuff with japanese planes could really be troublesome during building..🙂 Especially you have to glue the clearparts before fixing to the fuselage. But in the end i love those flying Greenhouses 🙂
31 July 2019, 16:44
Daniel Klink
Just another masking orgy 🙂
3 August 2019, 18:08
Daniel Klink
Thank you JAmes.. and still a lot of badges to do.. But end is in sight 🙂
3 August 2019, 21:36
Stephan Ryll
Oh masking time Daniel - looking good 👍
4 August 2019, 06:16
Treehugger
That is a fair amount of canopy masking. 🙂 I've noticed that some people use 'Parrafilm M' for masking canopies, have you ever tried that Daniel? (They stretch it sideways, one way, then lay and push it onto the canopy parts, apparently slightly adhesive that way, then they cut away excess with a sharp blade).

I ordered some of the stuff recently so I will get to try it out, otherwise I am used to using Tamiya masking tape.
4 August 2019, 12:29
Slavo Hazucha
That's a black belt in masking-ikebana... Quick count & some man-math indicate there must be around 40 of them total... in 72-scale...!
4 August 2019, 12:38
Daniel Klink
Thank you very much Guys 👍
@Treehugger yap tried it but for me the pre cut Eduard stuff works best . If it is not available for a kit i will do the Parafilm thing.
@Slavo it is finished and the "Load" is fixed together and masked to..
4 August 2019, 20:01
Daniel Klink
Next step was business as usual the black and white preshading..
7 August 2019, 16:01
bughunter
Your planes could not have been built on an assembly line, the bearings of that line would be glowing! Impressive progress 👍
7 August 2019, 17:29
Daniel Klink
Thank you Frank 👍 First layers of grey green nd IJN Black green added
7 August 2019, 18:56
Slavo Hazucha
The green perfectly accentuates the cucumber-shaped form of the rear fuselage end...😉😉
7 August 2019, 19:43
Daniel Klink
Thank you James for the encouraging words..👍 I hope it will do so in the end🙂
@Slavo !LOL yes but in fact it is abit darker than the pics show.. but nevertheless good point🙂

9 August 2019, 10:37

Fantastic work Daniel:
Bought this kit a few days ago again to build it with the Ohka.
Sadly Tamiya has no G4M2E in 48... 🙁
9 August 2019, 10:57
Daniel Klink
Thank you Soeren! Still a nice kit ! But many transparent parts
9 August 2019, 11:32

Thank you so much gentlemen for your kind and encouraging words...
@Slavo "LOL" and a big Bow
@Guy this time i used the decals, though i said i will never do it again last time with a Hasegawa kit 🙂
Antenna and wire added just a few things like a bit of washing and acentuating to do
11 August 2019, 20:19
Stephan Ryll
Very nice detail Daniel 🙂 looking very good 👍
12 August 2019, 15:08
Daniel Klink
Thank you Stephan 👍 a bit annoying is the fact that the aircraft fin and rudder spread and now there is a small gap visible. I heard a rather silent crack too. Now i will try to fix it with tamiya extra thin
13 August 2019, 10:23
Rick Corts
Looks great so far Daniel!

29 August 2019, 09:55
Daniel Klink
Hi Frank, the lady was nice plane which easily caught fire when approached her 🙂
24 September 2019, 09:40
David Januska
Hi Daniel, nice photos of a nice result. Did you use some "rusty" washes or something similar for your finishing? I think it is visible on the tail part of the plane and near upper turret on the last picture.
Thanks David
24 September 2019, 13:16
Daniel Klink
Hi David, yes i uses some umbra mixed with rust pigments as a filter there.
Well watched 👍

Daniel Klink
Thank you very much for you positive and encouraging words Gary, Augustin, Jens, Cuajete and Daniel 👍
They are so welcome and much appreciated 👍
I was struggling with myselr about the worn look in the original pic. But i decided not to do her that way because that heavily battered look,
destroys the real elegant and clean design of that Plane, that i wanted to dispay.
my next Betty will be a wornout and batterd chipping orgy 🙂
12 September 2020, 21:21
Spanjaard
Looks fantastic, Daniel
12 September 2020, 23:37
Daniel Klink
Thank you Spanjaard, much appreciated👍

19 September 2020, 22:31
Daniel Klink
Thank you very much Roberto, Cliff and Scott....much appreciated mates 👍
@Scott the next Betty will be a G4M1 by Tamiya in 1/48 ..lots of surface for chipping and scraping🙂
20 September 2020, 20:27
Rui S

28 February 2021, 19:14

Thank you Rui,very much appreciated 👍 yap that will be one of the next projects..
Just added some pics to make the Ohka more visible🙂
28 February 2021, 22:23
Neuling
I think "beautiful" is the central term concerning this build. Well done Daniel!
1 March 2021, 09:24
Slavo Hazucha
So the perfectly cucumber-shape & colored Betty now got an appropriately themed cutting board!😉

Not that it needed much in terms of an upgrade - but this definitely is one - looks great on the background and beautiful photo-shoot too! 👍
1 March 2021, 09:37
Daniel Klink
Thank you Neuling very glad you like it!👍
1 March 2021, 10:22
Daniel Klink
@Slavo very much appreciated, thank you Mate ()
Lighting and Background makes a big difference indeed. The only thing that bothers me a bit is this nose antenna.
But its got to be there 🙂
1 March 2021, 10:24
James C
This is a gorgeous looking build and inspired me to purchase the Tamiya 1/48 kit when I first saw it completed. I may even build it one of these days😉👍
1 March 2021, 17:29
Daniel Klink
Hello to the other side of the world and thanks mate.
Jens (BAT21) still got the Tamiya Betty in our book for a mini GB..
Three would be great 🙂
1 March 2021, 17:40
Jim J
Well done Daniel! I really like the fading and shading on the wings. I just started my first Japanese subject (a Zero) and am sinking into the quicksand of the color and weathering nuances of modeling these planes.
2 March 2021, 00:15
David Januska
Nice base for presentation, it adds another dimensions to the perfect result.
2 March 2021, 09:19

10 March 2021, 21:11

TheMadModeller
Wow, this one was a great job as well, you're one heck of a modeler Daniel! I'm really glad to see how much effort Hasegawa put into making this modern modeling rendition of the Betty. A while back I bought a model of Hasegawa's older G4M1, which also came with the Ohka in it's 1991 release, to replace one that had been destroyed during a burglary and vandalization of our home in the winter of 2012/2013. Acquiring this one could give me some pointers on how to scratch-build a decent interior for her and have the later model G4M2 situated next to her when it's done and over! I do have one question; What paint do you use for the brown color of many IJN propellers?
1 August 2021, 20:23
Daniel Klink
Thank you very much Edward, those words are very encouraging and warming the modelers heart 👍
I use the C-131 enamel by Gunze or AK Cha Kasshoku RC335
1 August 2021, 20:59
Clifford Keesler
Just beautiful Daniel, I will say it again, you sir are the master of Japanese aircraft.
2 August 2021, 18:49
Mirko Römer
いつものように、とても素敵なモデル、ダニエル!
2 August 2021, 19:26
Glenn Cole
Wonderful model and presentation, could you share details on the base as well? thanks,
2 August 2021, 21:04
David Januska
Yes Daniel, please share the details about the base. It is wonderful.
3 August 2021, 12:57
Daniel Klink
Hi Mates,
once again your motivating words are very much appreciated and inspiring for doing more stuff!
Thank you and @ Clifford Thank you so much and it honours my efforts unmitigated wow 👍
@Glenn and David. These bases are from Coastil Kits UK and already ready to use.
for example Luftwaffe Insignia (Coastal Kits CKS640-72, 1:72)
Their stuff is really superbly done!

CKS640-72

David Januska
Thx, Daniel for the useful tip.
3 August 2021, 18:06
Cuajete
Thx Daniel. Are these bases in relief or are they printed on a smooth sheet?
3 August 2021, 18:06
Daniel Klink
Hi, my pleasure David.
@Cuajete you can choose between a vinyl sheet (cheaper) and MDF
3 August 2021, 18:19
Glenn Cole
thanks sir!
3 August 2021, 18:20
Cuajete
Thank you, Daniel.
I mean if the surface is smooth or embossed, like Hobby Master bases.
3 August 2021, 18:43
Daniel Klink
Ah ok the surface is smooth Mate!
3 August 2021, 18:44
Cuajete
Ok, thanks! 👍
3 August 2021, 18:51
Jim J
Congrats Daniel. Looks awesome. I like the subtle shading and the way you applied the exhaust. Well done.
3 August 2021, 22:31
TheMadModeller
@Daniel Thanks for the info on the propeller color. I had a good laugh when I saw the name of this paint is literally "Propeller Color." I kind of feel dumb for not having found this previously. Due to Testors discontinuing their Model Master line of paint I'm nearly finished with transitioning to AMMO of Mig, Tamiya and Mr. Color acrylics. I'm kind of embarrassed to see how different Model Master's colors were from these more reputable brands. IF I remember correctly all of my previously built WW2 Japanese aircraft, which called for brown props, had them painted in Testors Matt Rust because the color looked "fairly close." -_-;

I was also curious about the base you were using too so I'm glad someone else asked.
4 August 2021, 18:08
Daniel Klink
@Cuajete my pleasure mate! 👍
Thank you Jim really great you like the paintjob 👍
@Edward. you could also use the Tamiya XF10! There are many colors and the props werent all
the same color in original.
