Hello everybody thats my first try to show a build from myself. At this stage of built everything works fine. This eduard "Acadamy Kit" is nice and everything fits well together.
The cockpit is done so far and the first main steps of engines are built and painted.
A dryfit form the upper and lower fusulage is done and after a small correction they'll fit also very well.

Now the weapon loading is completed without weathering so far. The next big step will be the marrige of upper on lower fusulage. At the moment it looks a little tricky.

Hello again now I've added a few new pics from my spook.

The progress so far is that I've put the under and upper fusulage together. On the front section you can see that I used a little bit of putty to get a smooth looking. The inlets are just dry fitted and not fixed at the moment. There is a little bit more work to do here.

The next step I've done is to remove the plastic pitot tube, ram air inlet an angle of attack and put in new parts from MASTER. It was a little tricky to get the exact drilling holes but I think at the end it is ok.

The last and for me the most funny part (at this stage of built) was to create the ejection seats. On the pics you can see that I've used a mixture of eduard PE parts and scratch built seat belts out of Tamyia tape. It was my first try and I think it is not to bad. Comments are very welcome.

My next steps will be to complete the fusulage (Wings, back section...). Once I've done this I'll come back with new updated pictures.

The last time I was a little busy so I've done not to much on my Phantom. I've started the first paint works on the main fusulage. Next steps will be a little preshading. On the exhaust area I've started also with the first paint jobs.

Still a nice progress Konrad! A lot more than my recent builds. Somehow work seems to get in the way of modelling...

Thanks Patrick! Yes thats absolutely right work slows down the modelling process extremely 😉.

Hi Mates now I've done a little camo on my Phantom. I've tried a few new things (for me new 🙂). So far I'm satisfied with the result. I've also prefinished the wing pylons with the Sidewinder and Fuel Tanks. The next step I've planned is to seal the surface with a little bit of future. Than I have to do the main gears and the main gear wheel wells. A lot of work still remains. 👍

Now the decals on the upper side are finished. The lower side will follow shortly. After that I will seal the surface again with a gloss varnish X-22 from Tamiya. Than I'll start to make this warbird dirty 🙂. See yeah.

Soooo viele F-4s! Die sieht großartig aus, eine USAF / Luftwaffe F-4 muss ich definitiv auch noch auf meine Liste packen 🙂

Danke dir vielmals 🙂. Werde in Kürze neue Bilder hochladen. Ja da hast du recht an F-4s mangelt es hier nicht 🙂. Die nächste wird allerdings wieder eine Navy Maschine werden.

When I looked first I thought I saw a Soesterberg, Holland based Phantom.. But I never knew they had "D" models deployed in Vietnam. I also know they never had any earlier models than the "E".. A quick search on Google learned me that the use of tail codes, which begun by PACAF during late 1966 and adopted by TAC in early 1968, was extended to USAFE in January 1970. Nice to learn something new! Love Scalemates 🙂

Your F-4 looks great too, the SEA camouflage is really striking 👍
1. December 2017, 09:12
Konrad Limmer
Thank you Erik! Yeah the D Model was first used to fight with the AIM 4 Falcon with very less success. Later on they only use the AIM 9 Sidewinders and of course the AIM 7. The 480 TFS was also one of the first Squadrons with a MIG kill in Vietnam. But that was the C Model as far as I know.

Thank you very much that you like it. Will post new pics soon.

As promised I'll updated my Album with new pictures.

The last two weeks I've found some time to finish this incredible kit. I've tried to show the weathering and the last steps of the build like weapons, cockpit and some small details like the "RBF-labels". Once I found a little bit time I'll want to add a pilot and a ladder to bring a little bit more "life" into it. Mayby I have to add a little bit more mat varnish onto the plane??

The last two pictures show the "former rivals" in Vietnam 68-74. Thank you all for the nice comments on this incredible platform!

The next build will hopefully follow soon. A little bit different this time maybe a Blackbird or an F16 XL.

See yeah next time! Cheers

I have that kit Konrad. How was it? Is it as nice as the F-4B kit was?.
12. January 2020, 02:34

Indeed it is the very same kit with a lot of goodies from Eduard! I like it a lot so have fun with that one.
In my opinion the air intake section is a little tricky but the rest fits perfectly 👍!
