1st build update. I've finished the DB 601F engine using Mr.Metal Dark Iron. I love the way it buffs to reveal the metal below after the initial spray which leaves it soot black.

Another update. The cockpit is finished. I added a few details to it to make it more interesting.

Thank you James! 🙂
Another update. Most of the assembly is finished. Next step is to mask the canopy and start painting. This will be my first winter camo, so it will be interesting😉.

Another update. In order to improve the fit of the engine cowl. I glued one side of it in the closed position. That stabilized the front so that the remaining cowl can be fit without glue. This way I can show off at least one side of the engine. I only have to add a bit of styrene rod to close the gap on the top of the cowling.

Another update. I've started with the figure set and all its accessories as I'm waiting for some parts to arrive before I can continue with the Bf 109. All the small parts have been finished and I've created the old wood-effect of the inside of the guard post. I really like these ICM figures, the detail and crispness is very nice. Next will be figure painting😉.

I've had a busy day today. I went back to work on the Bf 109 and closed the gap in between the engine cowlings. I then continued with the painting of the camoflage. As it is a winter camo, I decided to start with a simple splinter camo and then over spray it with white to get the effect of it being applied in the field. Next will be decals.

Thank you Daniel and James! 🙂
A little further progress today. The plane is almost finished. Just a few items to add, and some more weathering. I've also finished the faces of the figures. I'm taking my time with the figure painting.

I finished the figure painting today and did a little mock up of everything to look like box art. Next stop the bookshelf.😉

Thank you Nigel, Daniel and Ingo! 🙂
The ICM figures are really crisp in their details, and that makes it a lot easier and more fun to paint them.

@James, Well spotted! I didn't see the likeness before you said it. 👍

yeup that's definitely galland with his telltale sign of cigar. he was a manly man of course so the mechanics had to install his personal cigar holder next to the gunsight in his own a/c's cockpit!

Fantastic work so far Björn.

Awesome figures👍, as we a side note Galland also had an eye scope in one of his personal aircraft so he could spot the enemy from further away.

Bryn Crandell
Excellent figures. Inspiration for those of us that aren't really into painting figures.

Thanks mates! 🙂 I'm really pleased that you like them as it took me about a day to paint them with my optivisor on, with the resulting neck pain as a result.
And thank you Murad and Michael for the interesting facts about Galland. 👍 I will have to find and build one of his planes now, as I got a duplicate of the figure that came with another kit.😉

Stephan Ryll
Indeed very nice figures 👍

Hasegawa do one of his Bf 109e's that comes with the scope, it even has the forward windshield with the hole drilled out in it for the scope.

I think I have it, if your interested we might be able to work something out.

Thanks for the proposition 👍, but I think I have most of what I need for the build as I've previously built the Bf 109E-4 (Eduard 8263, 1:48).
So I have the canopy part and scope as it was part of that kit also. And I've got a duplicate of the figure already.
