Thanks guys. This thing was sidelined for a lot of years thru two moves and the some. I pulled it out a few weeks ago and decided to just get it done.

Lovely model!
Which paint is used for the topside base color?
16 December 2021, 04:38
Carlos Cisneros
Thank you Cortex. I think that I used Gunze Sangyo Aqueous H-85, Sail Color as the base sand coat. I'll have to check and confirm that later on. I was planning to use H-321 Light Brown, a JGSDAF color, but my bottle was old and had dried up since my last usage. So I went with what I had on hand.

The camo matches your reference photo nicely.

Looks great! Adding onto what you mentioned above, what other paints did you use for the scheme? Planning a similar project myself

Thanks Nathan and David. The other two colors are Tamiya- Deep Green XF-26 and Flat Earth XF-52.

Great work!! Are those chinese missiles? Dont look familiar
24 December 2021, 18:43
Carlos Cisneros
Rui & Daniel, thank you. The missiles are French Marta R550 Magics. From what I've read, the Iraqis wired their F-7's to carry them. And the Chinese have also made a copy of that Missile since then.

It looks very much like a MiG-21F-13, you know the differences with the F-7B?
25 December 2021, 21:41
Carlos Cisneros
There are several detail differences between the two types. The F-7B had two cannon, one per side, as opposed to the F-13's single gun. The canopy design changed from the front pivot single piece, to a two piece rear pivot clamshell design, along with the ejection seat type. Also the F-7B moved the brake chute to a fairing at the base of the vertical tail, and the pitot tube from below the intake to above, as well as adding the outer wing hard points plumbed for fuel tanks. The kit failed to get the narrow nose intake of the F-13, and instead had the later wide intake of the PF and later versions, along with missing the smaller early small main landing gear tires.

Thanks for these remarks, I'll try and keep them in mind when staring my own kit.

When I first bought this kit, I thought that I could do an easy conversion to a F-13. Oh no… Look for the Trumpeter Mig-21F-13 or F-7 kits for a more accurate kit.

Holy s, you have this kit!
Just wondering how it flew over Pacific to America, I can't even find a single piece of it over here.

Great paintjob and camo 👍
IMHO, not the best teaser, thought 🤔 I would choose p21

Thanks Rui! I somewhat agree about the teaser shot. Not sure why I chose that one at the time. I changed it now.

Chan, I picked up this kit off eBay or at a local shop about 10 years ago or so. I don't remember anymore, aside from how long I've had it. I threw all the box and receipt away when I finished it last month.
