While I am waiting for paint that I haven’t ordered yet to arrive I have succumbed to Bughunter’s gentle prod to get me to drag this out of the stash.

The plastic. There isn’t much of it so I may have to develop some skills I don’t have to make a reasonable effort.

Kerry Cox convinced me to use coloured kids school project cardboard as a base instead of a cutting mat. As you can see parts are more likely to stay “found”.

A bit of clean up but nothing serious. Looks like a good kit.

A glass sander completely removes sprue nubs. This works on clear parts as well.

I have used UMP acrylic primer. Used the pink as most of the plane was red

I have not followed what everyone else does because I am an idiot and must reinvent the wheel. Conventional wisdom has shading either side of the spars and the original colour in between the shaded areas. I have preshaded in Wine Red to darken the chosen colour and have the highlights over white not an off white. It does give an overall darker shade to the model but now I know what happens with that approach.

A biplane at the moment. Lower two wings in situated they look straight.

The decals are thick, but brittle. Go figure! I use UMP setting solutions and used all three grades to get them to sit, one splitting with the weakest solution.

Martin, I am all up in the air with this believe me. Never been any good with preshading so I am feeling my way as I go.

Thank you for the honour of making me responsible for the project here under the picture! And then I don't show up in the comments .... Sorry, but I got the virus, infected my wife too and we are still in quarantine. I'm still totally knackered and am only slowly coming back to life. It is very irritating not to smell anything!
What a shame that I have many triplanes in my cabinet but not yet this most famous one! I need to change that soon!
For now I will follow your build 👍

Bugs, you never told me how complicated an OOB Tri-plane could be! Having fun learning new stuff though! Might have to invest in some aftermarket parts for the next one!

And you are talking about one of the easiest old struts, because some of the Fokkers have nearly no rigging.
I never said that those old struts are easy 😉
But it is great you have fun with it and learning new stuff ...

Don't get too excited Alex, there won't be much accessorised in this one. More a learning exercise in painting pre shading learning curve! So much to learn in this hobby!
