Thanks Martin. That is just the incentive I need to get it out of the box again and give it a go. Pictures to follow. I see more scratch building in the future for this one. I have the pe for it but no more will be invested in it. It was the model given to me by my son that got me back into the hobby after 40 years away. I spent a year gathering tools and building a stash before starting it. I forgot how much fun was in a box of plastic.

I think the fun of having a model around, is that it tend to look nice from some distance. I try stick to 1:350, but I am somewhat envious of those that get the 1:700 kits, as it seems there are more kits for that scale.

I built this kit in the eighties.
Not being into ships I made it with a fire cracker inside and after I'd finished it I did a reinactment of the "Battle of the Bismarck" .
Unlike the original battle the Allied attack was most successful and the Bismarck was completely destroyed with the first blast

Always happy to help. You might notice "some" stuff has changed in the last 30 odd years.
I went over your stash, and you might be in for a couple more disappointments, as some of your kits have a looooong history. But they might just be useful to get your skills back and be used as trials for some other new adventures

Well one of my favourite builds so far has been a Novus 1/72 Swordfish. Took 4 months and a lot of work to fix broken plastic and too thick moldings. I never knew I had the patience.
