Version Sdkfz 231 intended for radio communication. The car had the same equipment as the 231 model, but in addition it had a 100W radio station and a handrail antenna for further range of the radio.

The Sdkfz 232 was designed in 1929 based on the Daimler-Benz truck chassis, which won the chassis competition at Magirus and Bussig Nag. The body was designed by Deutschen-Werke AG. It was built of armor plates with a thickness of 8mm to 14.5mm. The car was armed with a MG-13 machine gun mounted in a rotating turret, later it was replaced by MG-34. The final version received a 2 cm KwK 30 cannon. The Sdkfz 232 was powered by a Daimler-Benz M09 engine, which allowed it to reach speeds of up to 65 km per hour. The crew was 4 people. The car had two steering positions - on the front of the vehicle and at the rear.
