All other builds are on hold as this one gets absolute preferred treatment. She'll be a gift for my father-in-law.

This one is a real sand paper eater. But I'm channeling my inner Kerry Cox; no seam lines allowed!

nice.... but where are the wings???😉
9 August 2018, 21:41

father in law will be really lucky 🙂

Impressive so far Marty! I'd better get back to the Kwaka!
10 August 2018, 02:56
Martin Oostrom
Thanks guys. My father in law has been admitted to a geriatric psychiatric home for almost 5 years now. He had one of these in white/blue colours. As he absolutely doesn't want a white/blue one, I'm at liberty with the colours 🙂
I've narrowed my options down to Alclad Candy Orange, Indigo or Bottle Green.

Both of you are more experienced in bike building, any suggestions/tips/corrections are greatly appreciated!

Peter, yes you should 👍

i guess you have some vinyl tubing like more tamiya bikes... i usually insert a very thin copper wire on them, so you can give them the exact shape you want.
of course, you have the transparent ones now, that will be a great addition in the right places.
brave that you have removed the chrome, if you want it as shiny, you will need to polish the plastic and do a very nice back coat. i suggest black bright from alclad and alclad chrome.... it looks great when done correctly, but very unforgiving with any imperfection in the surface.... but i am sure you know about that already 🙂
10 August 2018, 12:11
Martin Oostrom
I have the Alclad gloss black primer and used it before. I also have Alclad Chrome. I know how difficult it is to get right, hence the sanding, sanding and sanding 🤔
It couldn't be worse than the original chrome, the fit wasn't good enough.

Martin Oostrom
Just been scraping and sanding on the exhausts and the manifold? (Part where four tubes enter and two leave) How will I realise a nice clean weld-like join? Diameteers are different and angles seem off 🙁
10 August 2018, 15:59
Greg Baker
Nice to tune in to see someone who know's what he's doing...
10 August 2018, 16:19
Rene Scheiblich
For the weldlines you could try the same thing as on AFV weldlines, but with finer tools: soften the desired area with glue, and apply nice clean 'weldbeads' with a very fine injection needle. But best dull it down a bit beforehand, or the ridges tend to get rather sharp 🙂
For reference there are tons of photographs of nice exhausts or bicycle/motocycle frames on the web😄
10 August 2018, 19:06
Peter Hardy
Thanks for that Greg, that cut to the bone! 🙂 Marty, I found chrome for lexan has a better finish than the straight chrome. Nice tip Spanjaard, I hadn't thought of that but will use it!
10 August 2018, 21:23
Spanjaard
glad to help Peter
10 August 2018, 22:13
Martin Oostrom
Peter, Greg, help! Lode is being mean to me 🙁 (And right, just don't tell him that)
René, thank you for the tip. I can image that the weldlines on an AFV are a bit cruder than those on chromed parts on an expensive Japanese commercial bike. Experiment time!
I also need to experiment on removal of Alclad paint. The Candy silver base is merciless on exposing every scratch. I sanded these pieces better than I ever sanded a plane, but the result is scary….
13 August 2018, 14:41
Rene Scheiblich
Hence the slightly dulled, small injection needle🙂 for afv I use a medium one in combination with a toothpick sanded to a nice smooth rounded point.
Works nicely, biggest problem I have is the right dosage of glue😄
Good luck with the removal 🙁 alclad is quite tough I believe. I'd try revell airbrush clean or gunze thinner... With anything hotter I'd be scared to damage the part 😮
13 August 2018, 14:55
Greg Baker
It's really coming along nicely... I'm impressed by that sanding job.
13 August 2018, 15:13

So was I Greg, until I sprayed the Alclad.

I received a message from the modelling gods today. I don't know why they chose me and it's in funny English:
Thou shan't strip Alclad Candy Silver Base with Alclad Lacquer Thinner. If thou does, thy plastic shall melteth. Thou shall sandeth for hours in penance.
13 August 2018, 16:43
Rene Scheiblich
Did you chisel into styrene sheet?😉

How fine did you sand? Grit 1200?
13 August 2018, 17:13
Martin Oostrom
My usual wet 600. Good enough for acrylic paint on planes.....
Just finished resanding with Alclads Polishing cloths. All the way up to 12000 this time. Will give another polishing run after dinner, or tomorrow, or in the weekend 😉
13 August 2018, 17:28
Rene Scheiblich
600 for a shiny finish? 😄 that's brave😉

That sort of timetable sounds too familiar... 🙁
Looking forward to seeing the finish after the second run! 👍
13 August 2018, 19:10
Martin Oostrom
There's a fine line between brave and plain dumb. Ask Lode on which side of the line I am 😉

After a second run with the finer cloths I remembered I have 2 polishing compounds, a rotary tool and 2 special polishing wheels..... So I started up the proxxon and went to work. To the naked eye it looks better than before. A new layer of Silver will reveal the truth.

Oh, I didn't lose my mind, it was mine to give away!
13 August 2018, 20:14
Greg Baker
Are you sure about that? Ask your wife...
13 August 2018, 21:21

certainly unforgiving to scratches my friend, but it is certainly looking better now... 🙂
13 August 2018, 21:41
Spanjaard
this is a build that you will be really proud off when done 🙂
13 August 2018, 21:51
Martin Oostrom
Thank you guys.
I'm amazed that almost every build brings something new. This is my first bike this millennium. Also the first time EVER I stripped paint. I have screwed up before though 😄
13 August 2018, 21:57
Peter Hardy
Martin, dear Martin! Learning curves must be taken at a speed you can maintain control. I am guilty of thinking in the past that building a car or a bike would have to be easier than a ship. Found out the hard way that it is in fact every bit as difficult as a 1000 count pe pack. This is where I gained total respect for the skills involved as demonstrated admirably the likes of Alex G and Kerry and Timmy Heimer. I use SMS paint stripper to remove Alclad and I have removed a lot of it! Works a treat! The plastic has to be polished as shiny as you can get it. 12000 grit if you have it.
13 August 2018, 22:52
Martin Oostrom
What I've learned in the past three years is that this hobby has evolved drastically in the 20 years I lost sight of it. I've built planes, ships, cars, bikes and trucks in my youth. But the overall quality of the kits and available tools has chaged a lot. Now it's possible to get a result that was unheard of in the day. Still adapting to this, this site is a great help with all the mates 👍
14 August 2018, 05:59

So Lode confirmed your sanity Martin 🙂

It's almost overwhelming how much stuff there is now... Cheers for barely sane and massively helpful communities like all the mates here 👍

I like that, Lode 😄 👍

True about the perspective though. Similar to the grass on the other side😉
My SO definitely puts me in the insane category.
'why do you bother bending the handles from copper wire when you have them in the kit?'

😄
15 August 2018, 11:08
Martin Oostrom
Lode, at least we're from the same decade 😄
I'm having fun by the buckets. Just spend 2 hours this morning sanding the frame, to get rid of the mold lines. I think I decided to just polish all the parts after prep work, to get a decent finish.

Pete, so this brick wall I've been looking at for years that goes all the way up till heaven, it is actually a fence?
18 August 2018, 13:15

It's for your own protection... but mainly for ours... 😛

Born in '76. To celebrate, the Yanks painted all their planes in Dutch Red, White & Blue and added 76 😉 google.nl/search?biw..0.0....0.X8VuERw2Cjk

Some things I don't understand. The engine needs to fit in the frame, which is split lengthwise. To get te frame to look like welded tubes, I need to glue the two halves and sand a lot. But then it's nearly impossible to get the engine in. And painting both after assembly looks impossible to me. So I glued the front part of the frame and hope that after painting, I'll be able to get the enige in without scratching too much.

Kerry, yes it will be Alclad Chrome. I need to decide which end part I'll be using on the exhaust. There is an internal end to the muffler, that needs to be black. An alternative is a chromed end that needs to be flush with the exhaust. Options, options, who needs them?

The colour of the bike has been decided by popular vote: Alclad Candy Orange. This requires a baby skin smooth surface, so more sanding and polishing it is! And no René, that's not the best part 😉
19 August 2018, 09:58
Rene Scheiblich
'76... I feel much younger now!😛
Still get asked for ID when buying alcohol sometimes...

Can't you wrap the engine in saran wrap after mounting it into the frame?

If it's sanding once, it's ok. But sanding... priming... Crap, scratches. Again... And again... Oh I messed up the rescribing too... Filling... Sanding AGAIN... Nope not fun.
Main reason why I'm procrastinating my 262 at the moment.
So yeah I'm a big fan of sanding 😄
19 August 2018, 10:37

Went to the States in '97. Got into every bar and drunk. Never was asked for ID. I'm an old soul 😄

Martin, having built a number of Honda street bikes in the past and having actually worked on the full scal 1:1 versions, the engine fits in the same way as the real thing, having one of the support brackets held back until the engine is actually installed in the frame, so, resist putting all the attachment points on the frame before the engine is installed, as this will reduce the 'scratching' to a minimum and make it easier to install.
The black butt of the exhaust should look good against the candy Orange. 👍
Looking forward to your skills showing through mate, just don't install the engine cover upside down with the honda name on it. hahahahahaha 🙂
AND, I just noticed in image 25 that you have got both support brackets installed when I THINK one of them was to be left off until the engine was actually in the frame. Please, correct me if I am wrong, but I feel I am correct. 👍
19 August 2018, 11:35
Kerry COX
Then, I saw image 1 and saw that the bracket I was referring to was already part of the frame. :-/
19 August 2018, 11:41
Martin Oostrom
René, I've got some of Kerry's magic stuff, parafilm. Perhaps that'll work.

Kerry, that's what's puzzling me. It's hard to get the front of the frame (at the top) look like a tube and get the engine in easily. I left the back end unglued in the hope it helps.

Just finished priming some parts. The parts are not exactly Kerry Quality, but good enough for me on this try. Way better than the first one.
One of the exhausts is primed in silver base, the other in gloss black. As there's additional sanding needed there, I decided to use them as a testbed. Tomorrow a quick spray of chrome to check what looks beter. Although the silver is almost good enough to pass as chrome. What do you guys think?

Kerry, thanks for the logo tip 😉
19 August 2018, 18:47
Rene Scheiblich
Looks pretty damn good to me mate! But... is that a Tiny burr on the back of the tank there? 😮
19 August 2018, 20:16
Spanjaard
alclad looking good 🙂
19 August 2018, 21:36
Kerry COX
Martin. There was one CRITICAL thing I failed to mention.
The oil filter.
That is the finned thing in image 12 and 27 that protrudes from the lower front of the engine, and should have been left off until the engine is in the frame, otherwise it could prove difficult getting the engine in the frame easily.
AND, all Honda engines are installed from the left side of the frame (Looking forward from riders position).👍
The parrafilm should work for protecting what's been done but be careful cutting it off, as you don't want to put score marks into any of your work. !
But looking good Martin. 👍

19 August 2018, 22:01
Peter Hardy
I can't add anything. 🙁
19 August 2018, 23:53
Kerry COX
For sure. A great result will happen, minus the dreaded scratch lurgie. 🙂
Nothing that I can see to complain about, as all bases are covered. 👍
20 August 2018, 05:23
Martin Oostrom
WWKCD is the root cause of all of my engine troubles! In the old days I would have glued the frame without ever looking back at seam lines. WWKCD just doesn't always mesh with following instructions. It does give better looking results in the end 👍

The oil filter is glued in place, so I'll have to take my chances with parafilm or something else. Perhaps I'll wrap the frame instead of the engine. Any score marks would be on the inside of the frame, less annoying than a scratched engine.

René, I don't like you! That spot is only visible on the pictures, not in real life. I think I'll take my chances with that one. Thank you anyway, please call out any faults you see, I am still willing to learn from everybody 😄
20 August 2018, 05:49
Peter Hardy
I have a spare pair of glasses I can send you Marty!!
20 August 2018, 06:15
Vincent Heemskerk
I did this one as well, opted for the standard grey paint scheme. Very nice work, Martin. You have a lot of patience, redoing your work to make it look as good as possible.
20 August 2018, 06:25
Martin Oostrom
Mmm. Daylight shows more flaws on the tank. Some are fixed by sanding others not. Let me think about it.
20 August 2018, 06:28
Kerry COX
Martin.
I noticed In image 4, the oil filter is number 17, and the bottom of the engine half is 18 with the plate for the oil filter attached, and gluing that oil filter on before your engine goes in the frame has prevented the smooth operation of that task. Did it say to do that in the instructions. ?
That is why your having issues with trying to make the engine go into place.
I would try to remove the oil filter and smooth the area then, glue it back once the engine is in the frame, as being that low down visually, it will not be noticed that you have 'made repairs'. 🙂
20 August 2018, 07:58
Peter Hardy
Just be careful when you remove the filter Marty, have a rag handy so you can catch any oil before you make a mess on Mrs Oostrom's polished floors!
20 August 2018, 08:27
Kerry COX
Lord help us guys. I do believe he is serious. :-O
20 August 2018, 09:00

But anyway, in the future I will drink a few beer before enjoying your progress photos🙂😉
20 August 2018, 09:49
Greg Baker
The main thing I've learned is to stay away from motorcycles...😉
20 August 2018, 14:45
Rene Scheiblich
Same here. 😄. Kits at least. Still thinking about getting the license for a 1:1...
20 August 2018, 15:19
Martin Oostrom
Rene, start drinking, look later 😉
Kerry, the filter wouldn't budge. I daren't try any harder as I was afraid of damaging the parts.
Pete, coincidentally the fabulous mrs Oostrom spilled some body oil last night 😄 so I might get a free pass.

I painted some chrome on the exhaust for a test. Hardly any difference between the black base and the silver base. The chrome is more shiny than the silver, so the chrome will be painted.

I sprayed the orange as well. If you're an accomplished airbrusher, it gives you amazing control for the opacity of the colour. As I'm not accomplished, I went for the full colour experience. It looks great, just not as glossy as I was expecting. It's more a silky shine, nice nonetheless. Some light polishing and then a glosslayer could do the trick I think.
20 August 2018, 16:26
Wim van der Luijt
It could just be the quality of the pics but the chrome on the exhausts somehow doesn't Look shiny enough to my eye..... other than that , cudos on the build so far
20 August 2018, 18:06
Martin Oostrom
Thank you both. Wim, all we have is the pictures as I already stripped the exhausts. The pictures from this iPhone are very good, but not for shiny parts I fear. We'll see if my second attempt will be better.
20 August 2018, 19:49
Kerry COX
Martin, you have done a wonderful job mate. 🙁 👍
The colour of the tank and fender and rear tool box looks as it should, and the clear gloss over the top of that (I am assuming) will look awsome. 👍
Never mind about the oil filter, that experience is now well and truly in the memory bank of what not to do with all Honda models......for sure. 🙂
BTW, I have found that with alclad chrome over gloss black comes up even better with a light buffing, just to smooth the chrome particles down to eliminate that fuzzy look you get straight after spraying the chrome. It reminds me of the Testors 'buffing metalizer' paints I used to use, which I might add are still available and well worth a try. 👍
In general, a most enjoyable build to watch, and well done mate. 🙂 👍
20 August 2018, 20:04
Spanjaard
Looking stunning IMHO, Martin. Excellent job so far. This will be a fantastic bike at the end. I reminds me u have some in my stash too....
20 August 2018, 20:59
Martin Oostrom
Buffing. Now there's a new word for me. Does it mean gently rubbing with a soft cloth?
I'd like to get a slightly oily look on the drive chain. I'm not getting there soon, just comes to mind. Any suggestions? Or just rub it with migs oil and grease mixture?
20 August 2018, 21:03
Peter Hardy
Bright and shiny! Love the candy colour! Engine looks clean and well defined. This thing will look fantastic!
20 August 2018, 21:06
Kerry COX
Martin, the chains are usually light in colour, steel, but I create the dirty look with the Tamiya panel line wash after I have covered the exposed chain with XF-56 enamel, and the wash will highlight the individual links a lot better, especially after you have wiped away the excess wash. 🙂
'Buffing', 🙂. Yes, lightly rubbing the surface with either a cotton bud, soft cloth, and in some cases, a tooth brush for things like chains or engine detail. Buffing. hehehe 🙂
20 August 2018, 22:54
Greg Baker
I've found mico-fibre clothes (like the ones you use to clean your glasses) work well for buffing a paint job... and that's about all the advice I have to share on this masterpiece...
21 August 2018, 01:38
Kerry COX
Yes Greg. Totally agree with your cloth choice. 👍
21 August 2018, 01:57
Rene Scheiblich
Yep me too 👍

No drinking yet besides the first Espresso before sunrise but...
Those alclad metallics are bombastic. Tons of preparation needed seemingly but the finish... Oh my.

And the red is stunning already. Like a frosted over cherry😄 mind coming over to Berlin to give my car a new coat? 😛

Are you going to go full Kerry-Cox-mode on the engine as well?😉
21 August 2018, 03:39
Martin Oostrom
This thing is sapping my mojo. Each and every part has mold lines to sand away. Almost half way with the 600 grit. As most pieces are high shine or metallic, that means I need to polish each and every piece as well. All this prep work is energy draining. I think I spend an hour on each of the rear springs. Those were poorly molded and needed a lot of sanding to look almost acceptable.

I forgot to thank you guys for the very nice comments and the buffing manual 😉 I've got several micro fibre cloths that should do the trick.

Rene, I'm in no mood for Kerry-ing up this build. Perhaps when all the sanding and polishing is done, I might give it a small go.
29 August 2018, 15:10
Greg Baker
You know what I found helpful? Don't refer to it as "prep work". That makes it sound like it's just the useless stuff you need to do before you start the job. It's not... it's part of the job. Probably the main part.

In my day job I do a lot of consulting with export companies - many of whom are not prepared to do their homework before entering the market - and I tell them 90% of the job we call "painting" (usually referring to a room in a house... not a MiG-21... but whatever) is spent using drop clothes and painters tape. If you start the job on Friday after work you're lucky if you see a can of paint by Sunday afternoon. The reason we hate that is that the job is called "painting" not "taping" so we think we're not making progress.

But as we all know, if you mask properly, you can spray your airbrush all over the place and everything comes out looking just fine. 🙂
29 August 2018, 15:19
Rene Scheiblich
What Greg said. Personally I like having some good music running for these kinds of work.
What kills my mojo is preparing and seeing later that I screwed up 😄
29 August 2018, 15:51
Greg Baker
Yeah... now that's a different problem... one that I'm afflicted with quite often... 😛
29 August 2018, 15:54
Rene Scheiblich
I think as Peters build progresses, you might be tempted to get crazy on yours as well Martin🙂 anyway I'll keep peeking over your shoulder. 👍

Yeah I've hit that yesterday. Well... I guess i can't leave it like that now as I've made it public😄
29 August 2018, 16:10
Spanjaard
as the old Beppo used to say... Step, breathe, sweep, breathe, step, breathe, sweep... in this case, breath, sand, breath, sand, breath... relax and have some music😉
29 August 2018, 16:42
Martin Oostrom
You guys are so reasonable I'm starting to dislike you. 😛
And I know you're right. Sigh!
29 August 2018, 17:39

WTF do you do for a living Greg?

It's Thursday gents. Won't be long and we will be sitting at the bench for 10 hours doing what we hate doing. Or what we tell each other we hate doing. ... But, we keep doing it!

Martin my little bro, welcome to MY world!

Rene, what music floats your boat? Oompah German folk music? Do you really model in leather shorts? AndI thought Greg was the mysterious one.

Spanjaard, who or what is Beppo?
29 August 2018, 21:19
Martin Oostrom
Yes gents, I know. Those springs just knocked the mojo out. It'll return 👍
29 August 2018, 21:33
Martin Oostrom
Music, I'm an omnivore. AC/DC, Sonny Landreth, Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, Janine Jansen, Billy Joel, Rolling Stones, Beatles, and many, many more 😄
29 August 2018, 21:40
Spanjaard
Lode, you just made my day 🙂
i use that a lot at work. at home i tend to listen to classical. but i have no problem with many others, specially the 80's of course
29 August 2018, 22:06
Greg Baker
"Reminds me of when I was physically a kid" is my new saying. I usually listen to Jazz - the good kind, Dave Brubeck, Thelonius Monk, Sarah Vaughn, etc. Not the "adult contemporary" stuff people sometimes confuse with it - as well as Classical. But since I watched the movie Atomic Blonde on a plane this past summer I started listening to 80s music for just that reason. It was a bit dangerous though, I was on the bus on my way to the office listening to music and my Deezer "flow" tossed in Rage Against the Machine. By the time I got off the bus I was shoving Korean grannies out of my way and screaming "fight the power! Motherf*&$er!"
29 August 2018, 22:48
Kerry COX
OMG. ! :-O When I saw image 43, I actually though it was a photo of someones bike parts hanging on a work shop wall. TRUE. But then I looked a bit harder and realized they were model parts in the box they came in. I guess it goes to show I am taking my modelling way too seriously hahahahahahaha 🙂 🙂 🙂 👍
29 August 2018, 22:51
Spanjaard
i like that sentence too 🙂
30 August 2018, 06:55
Peter Hardy
Greg the latter half of your comment is lost on me. You may as well be speaking Korean.
I like to listen to classical classics, 50 and 60s radio stuff, 70s rock and Australian country, especially Slim Dusty and John Williamson. Mam likes Thai traditional stuff. I don't.
30 August 2018, 07:02
Rene Scheiblich
Colourful mix of music tastes around here! Nice!
AC/DC was my #1 music for riding my bicycle back in Hannover👍
Peter😄 nope I'm not really into that kind of stuff. Never drunk enough for it! 😉 Leather jackets, shoes and carseats are nice though.
My music taste might be a bit weird. I like a bit of Piano sometimes, can't tell many names though. Mr. Einaudi comes to mind. I actually tried some Jazz last year, but it's not really for me.
80s stuff is ok-ish, I love listening to Icehouse while driving. 90s... Yeah getting there. But not the radio diarrhea, more like trance and techno from that era until early 2000s. Wellknown artists are chicane, Kai tracid, 4 Strings, Paul van Dyk... That kind of stuff, with toes dipping into early hardstyle. Sometimes relaxed, vocalbased and sometimes a bit faster or 'harder'.
But at the moment I'm all over metal again. Dio, Amon Amarth, Judas Priest, Helloween, Bolt thrower, children of bodom, early metallica... To name a few.
My SO declared me insane for listening to that "horrible noise"... Total nutjob here. 😛

In sum I don't really have a fixed music style I like, more like a core selection (which consists of about 60% rock/metal) I like the most with lots of other stuff I like added which sometimes doesn't fit. At all.
Can't tell if that's normal or healthy though 😉
I try new things though all the time, ending up like Greg wondering what the heck just happened. Usually when youtube or soundcloud sends you on a journey to the obscure places.
One can find lots of good things diving into the unknown🙂

Dang. That's long. And my boss almost caught me. :|
30 August 2018, 07:39

Clapton and Cream. Roxy Music, Family, Bozz Scaggs, and some Jim Post. That's my music choices.

That settles it Rene. You can wait outside while we all go into the pub.

Who are they. ?

Google them.

Actually had to go throught the collection in Media Player to see what I like else. Does that make any sense? It's just too much.
ABBA, BB King, Clapton, Blues Brothers (Nostalgia!), Bryan Adams, Buddy Guy, Chet Atkins, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Dave Brubeck, Diana Krall, Ella Fitzgerald, Louis Armstrong, Frank Sinatra, Garth Brooks, George Strait, John Mayer, Beethoven, Mozart, Micahel Bublé, Michael Jackson, Norah Jones, Ray Charles, Robbie Williams, Ry Cooder, Paul Simon, Stevie Ray Vaughan.
And that's just the favorites, I have 4.687 songs on the PC, good for a mere 305 hours of music.

What I don't like is most of the stuff Rene listed 😉 No heavy metal, no trance/techno etc, no rap. Of course there might be a song here or there that's nice, but in general no. So I agree with Peter, unless you adjust your musical style, no admittance to the pub 😄

Oh, and these Fins are great as well: Youtube Video

Rene Scheiblich
Hmm of that list I have some Bryan Adams, Blues Brothers and Michael Jackson on my PC🙂
I could survive most of it though. My mother and uncles have similar CDs and Vinyls on when we hang out in the garden😄

No admittance... Harsh judgement but I'll live 😛

And I really like Bjork. 🙂

Martin - check out Lambert, Hendricks and Ross. I think you'd like them. I can't save any of the rest of you unfortunately...
30 August 2018, 10:44
Rene Scheiblich
😄 no saving needed Greg.
Yeah btw... Rap/hiphop and RnB are absolutely off my list as well. One commonality we have at last 🙂

On Topic: Nice work on the sanding, in my experience, no matter how hard I try, I always have some ghostlines coming through the paint...

Off topic: Rene, we're going to have our own café... Do you know Funker Voght? Nice thing also.

i have not heard much of ACDC... But i kind of like the original... Youtube Video
with the choppers of course 😄 😄 although those farmers make it nice

30 August 2018, 20:36
Rene Scheiblich
Nah Peter I guess we can at least come to common ground on the beverage issue😉

The army video is cool. 🙂 and those farmers did a nice job actually... Fins you say? No wonder finland produces tons of good bands when they even produce proper music in their barns. On anvils!

Our own cafe sounds good Bart!😄 Funker Vogt is quite good! You might like Die Krupps and Feindflug as well then, quite heavy industrial stuff. But not everyones cup of tea, as it is easily misunderstood by many.

Jarre! Super relaxing, listened to his music a lot while cramming for my exam.🙂 thanks for reminding me... Off to yt now, long weekend off ahead 🙂 with some sanding to do I fear...

You don't wish for a win. Just for the whole field to finish. As Gregg Hansford once said, "You have to leave your brain in the toolbox".
31 August 2018, 06:04
Rene Scheiblich
Yep good song👍
That race track looks rather interesting... Never bothered watching bike races, but yeah it seems to be a lot more interesting than Formula 1. Less funky nonsense and more action.
Mr Hansfords quote makes sense seeing some of those turns and spontaneous dismounts😮

that is real driving for sure.... a lot harder than a circuit (but what do i know about racing anyway...)
31 August 2018, 06:20

Gents, MotoGP on this weekend. If you think you like motor racing, watch the moto 3 race. If you don't find that exciting you don't deserve it.

I had put this thing aside as it was killing my mojo. Too much polishing was needed.
Now it has accelerated from a 'I want it perfect' build to a 'I need it finished asap' build.
No more time for polishing, priming, etcetera.

Isn't Alclad Magic stuff when it works. 🙂 Super impresses with the brakes and wheels Martin. I am wrapped you perserveered with the build. The candy red is top gear. I love what you have done. Big salute. 🙂 👍

Thanks for the kinds words my friends, even though they are a bit besides the truth.
My father in law is in his last days/hours. I'm rushing this build on too little sleep and without any regard for proper building. Some of the chrome parts look fabulous, but the ones unpolished before painting not so much. Ditto for the hand painted lines on the wheels.
Just hoping to get it done in time....

hope you get it done in time Martin! Hang in there.....
