Constructing and Painting Interior

Album image #1
Citadel tweezers may be good enough for the bulbous bolters that many would be manipulating, but not the small Brengun photo etch parts.

Album image #2
The gun barrel shrouds molded into the wing cause a gap on the leading edge when assembled. I removed some material with an eXacto, and accidentally cut through part of the second wing, which can be seen in its un-sanded state on the right.

Album image #3
The more astute may notice (not from this image) that one strut is slightly larger than the other- this is because I had to trim up part of the PE into a new piece after I completed an accidental orbital launch of the actual part from my tweezers.

Album image #4
Sprayed the interior with a black base paint, in a foolish attempt to save money by not buying a black primer.

Album image #5
The obvious result of spraying 1. Vallejo Model Color from and airbrush (though thinned by Flow Improver, perhaps not enough based on the sputtering), 2. without any cured primer layer whatsoever, and 3. not waiting long enough for it to dry and cure.

Album image #6
Got back from college, sprayed interior and a couple other parts, did my best woodgrain with only single color Abteilung oil paint, and primed and painted the PE cockpit accessories (seatbelt painted after I realized I forgot when uploading this image).

Album image #7
Used some Pledge floor varnish to create something akin to the glass in the "steam cockpit" instruments.

Album image #8
Masked floor, added interior parts (with some difficulty, PE folder would come in handy), painted intercooler exhaust (chose interior green to save money instead of opting for a zinc chromate variant). Next up is adding the last instrument panel backing.

Album image #9
Glued in interior parts, instrument panel had to be canted back to allow it to fit in its recess, and I would not recommend using Vellejo for PE parts even with primer, as this seemed to come off much too easily.
