Thanks! I add some detail color on the ship and have updated some details. I add a few details by Scratch. Also I start with the little Diorama base. I study pictures of ships in the ocean and try now to build a little diorama base. I am not sure if this will succeed, I'm trying to create something and hope it comes well. So far it looks a little like water, now the hardest part is to apply the colours. I start with airbrush and try dry brush afterwards. We will see...

Karl, Calvin, thank you both for following me by my first build of a ship model. Unfortunately, there were no more updates, because I thought daily, now the good piece is finished. But that wasn't the case, I was never satisfied with it.

I looked at the model out from the box and thought further, it couldn't have been that yet, it looks too simply. So, I thought "no risk no fun" and spent an evening to attaching the antenna cables to the mast. I had no idea if this will have a good end, but it was clear, as simple as it is just out of the box, it will never get a place in my showcase. So, I put the antenna cables on. I also looked at some photos on the internet of HMS Kelly and added some extras. I noticed that many pictures in the Google search do not show the HSM Kelly, but one of her sister ships. Many pictures are titled Kelly, but it can never be the Kelly. So be careful if you want to build a Kelly.

When I was finally satisfied with my little Kelly, the good piece is only 15.5 cm long in 1/700 scale, I devoted myself again to the diorama. Again, it is my first model ship and my first water diorama, but I expect a result that I can say, yes, this build is a success for me. Again, and again, I work on the small little Diorama and two days ago, I thought I am finish with it. After I take some final pictures, I watch again many pictures of ships in the sea and no picture looks like my Diorama, there was too overdone foam on the waves. Again, I reworked it and yesterday I was satisfied with my first water Diorama.

As I started with the Diorama, I was aware, that the Diorama base is very tightly measured, but I thought, for this simple and for my first model this is enough already. I didn't know then that I was going to add some extras and that I will be more than happy with the result.

I know the Diorama base is a bit too small, but overall, for a first try and for an interim project, I am satisfied with the result. I hope you enjoy it as well. Of course, it is by no means a masterpiece, but I would never have expected such a result by myself. I would be very happy about constructive criticism and grateful for any advice on what I can do better in the next model.

The water looks great and so does the ship, if anything i would weather the ship a bit more and give flag some ripples to give impression of it being in movement.

Many Thanks Calvin and Karl. This is a very good hint with the flag, thanks for that. I have made the correction yet. As far as weathering is concerned, I wanted to add a bit more, but the HMS Kelly was in the shipyard for repairs at the beginning of 1941 and I also couldn't see any strong weathering on pictures, so I decided to keep it discreet on purpose. But for future projects a very good hint. Thanks for that.
